So I am now on a mission to make all (that’s right ALL) of the Chobani creations I saw when I visited ChobaniSoho recently (I almost wrote @ChobaniSoho-can you tell I’m spending too much time on Twitter?). So this week I am creating Blueberry + Power. Super delicious and super powerful! Check it out:
This particular creation is made of blueberries, walnuts, chia seeds, hemp seeds and light agave. I did not use hemp seeds but I did use the chia seeds (I just really did not want to invest in two types of seeds). The result was a filling and tasty breakfast. I recently told you all about how great Greek yogurt is in the Great Yogurt Debate, well I thought I should also tell you a little bit out chia seeds a.k.a the new superfood! So chia seeds are these little black seeds that contain a wealth of healthy benefits. They are filled with fiber (so.good.for.you.) and omega-3 fatty acids. Fiber aids digestive health and studies have shown can help you lose weight while omega-3 can boost your heart health and reduce inflammation within the body. They are low in saturated fat and cholesterol and are an excellent supplement to an overall healthy diet. So give ’em a try! Besides adding a little crunch to my yogurt, they were virtually tasteless!
Readers, have you tried chia seeds? What are your favorite recipes?
Also, I’m super excited about upcoming Sweaty Saturday to be held in NYC on October 13th. The day is devoted to fitness, health and wellness AND (get this) “boutique” fitness studios around NYC will be participating. Some of my favs are already signed up to participate: Flywheel, Physique57, ZClub and much much more! Most importantly the day is to benefit Healthcorps, an organization founded by Dr. Oz aimed at fighting childhood obesity and helping schools focus on health. I’m really excited about this organization and the event. Thanks to FITiST and Under Armour for supporting an awesome day! I can’t wait to learn more and I’ll keep you all posted 🙂
