Uplift Workout and Wine

Hello hello!  Sorry for that mid-week hiatus.  See the thing about balance is that sometimes it has to swing in the other direction.  After several days off over Thanksgiving when I got to enjoy pizza and bowling, I had to come back to reality and put in some hours at work.  So unfortunately my little blog here had to take a backseat for a few days.  But don’t worry, I’m back!

I had a great experience last night at Uplift Studio.  I previously wrote about Uplift after Sweaty Saturday here.  I really think its such a great fitness studio and I love that they combine networking with working out-it’s my kind of networking!  Anyway, Uplift is known for their Workout and Wine events and I was lucky enough to snag a ticket to the most recent event hosted by Urban Girl Squad.  I dragged along a few of my pals for a 30 minute high intensity workout followed by some wine and apps (the food kind, not the electronic kind).

It was such a great evening!  The workout was tough!  We split the group in half and for the first 15 minutes one group focused on arms and legs and the other group focused on abs and core.  After 15 minutes we switched it up.  I know what you are thinking-oh just three parts of the body for 15 minutes each, how hard can that be?  Well, let me ask you, how hard do you think it is when you are performing squats with weights followed by squat jumps followed by burpees with weights followed by plyo burpees?  Its as hard as doing set after set of planks and crunches!  So yeah, it was a good workout!

Afterwards we hit up the cocktails.  Uplift has this ultra cute wine bar area where all of us exercisers mingled after working up a sweat.  Nothing is so refreshing as a glass of white wine after a mean workout.  Everytime I visit Uplift I meet the friendliest and most interesting women from around NYC.  Ladies, if you are in the NYC area and are looking to network with other fitbees, then check out Uplift’s Workout and Wine events!

The best part of the night (well, besides the workout and the cocktails) was that my friend Anna actually won the raffle for five free classes!  How awesome is that!?  Who needs the Powerball when you can get a great workout, wine and some free classes!
