Hello! I can’t believe that it is almost Christmas! This year has gone by so quickly! Pete and I have been trying to get into the real meaning of the holidays this year by spending time together and reflecting on all the good things we have in our lives, which is why part of our Days of Togetherness includes donating a gift to charity. This year I donated a gift to Toys for Tots.
I took advantage of their donate a monetary gift program. The money you donate is used to purchase gifts that are then provided to children in need. While I would have liked to purchased a gift directly (and there is an option to do this), I felt that by donating a monetary value, this would allow the organization to use its discretion and fill the gaps in certain age groups that may not necessarily be targeted by donors. Also, the gift will not necessarily be used in the New York area but will instead be used where it is needed most. It feels awesome to share our good fortune! 🙂
We also managed to tick another thing off our holiday list. We watched not one but TWO Christmas Specials on TV. The first one was very unconventional! I can’t help it. I tried to watch the super sappy real Christmas specials and I just couldn’t get into them. So here is our unconventional Christmas special for the sake of Holiday Togetherness. . . drum roll please . . . The Victorias Secret Fashion Show! Haha! I know, I know! But hey, its motivation to hit the gym and lay off the Christmas cookies!
Our second one we just stumbled upon while having dinner one night. Home Alone. I forgot how much I like that movie. A little cheesy but really gets you into the holiday spirit.
Hope you are all geared up for the holidays! We’ll be heading up to Mass later this afternoon. See you all soon!
