Hey all! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! The hubs and I hosted a brunch this weekend and I totally meant to take some photos to show you all and then I completely didn’t. Wah wah. Oh well, suffice to say the mimosa bar was a hit! Pick your juice, pick your garnish, add champagne and sip!
Anyway, I thought I would give you a round up of some new and notable things happening in the fitness world! Enjoy!
A recent Wall Street Journal article reported that more and more brands are looking to their consumers, rather than highly paid models, to show off their clothes. One brand in particular is a MOB favorite: Lululemon. Consumers take photos of themselves and share them on social media using a hashtag (i.e., #TheSweatLife for Lululemon). The company then selects photos to be displayed on their webpage showing real people wearing their clothes. The idea is that consumers respond positively to seeing people just like them wearing the clothes. Readers, have you ever taken a photo and uploaded it to social media in hopes of “modeling” for a particular brand? Would you be more likely to purchase a product because real people use/wear it?
Free Yoga This Summer
Recently we discussed how to save money on fitness, well summer is the perfect time to take advantage of free classes being offered. The best part? They are all outside! Nothing celebrates summer more than getting your workout on outdoors. Ring in the summer officially with Athleta’s Mind Over Madness Yoga in Times Square celebrating the Summer Solstice on June 21st. Classes will be held throughout the day to celebrate the longest day of the year. I went last year and had a blast! Registration is now open!
Wanderlust City Festival may be hitting a city near you! On June 9th, Wanderlust will by in NYC at Pier 63 on the Hudson River. Free yoga on the river. Can’t be beat! Other cities include Chicago & Los Angeles. Click here for more info!
Fly with Friends
It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Flywheel’s spin classes. Well, things just got a little friendlier. The cycling chain has launched a new social booking platform that displays your Facebook image when you sign up for class. See which of your Facebook friends are also signed up for class by checking out the images on the reserved bikes. The social booking is opt in, so don’t worry, if you don’t want your photo up for the world to see, it is not necessary.
More Physique Anytime!
An online workout fav, Physique 57 just added more classes to its online library! That’s more Physiqueon YOUR schedule! Classes are $5 for 24 hours or $57 per month for unlimited classes. Love, love, love!
That’s all for this news hour. Have a great rest of the weekend!
