Hey there! Hope you had a great weekend! When the hubs and I lived in Sydney, Australia we participated in a race called City to Surf. It was a 14k run that began in Sydney city center and ended at Bondi Beach. It was always a ton of fun to run because what could be better than completing a race at a beach and then going for lunch overlooking the water? Well, this weekend I was reminded of the race when we went on a whirlwind trip leaving NYC on Friday evening driving to Cape Cod to hit the beach before driving in to Boston for the remainder of the weekend. We literally went from Surf to City! Check out my photos!
This was our first official weekend at the beach and it was a beauty!
After hitting the beach on Saturday, Pete and I headed to Boston for my friend Colleen’s 30th birthday at the Marriott Long Wharf. That’s her on the left!
It was so fun to catch up with my peeps from high school and sip some vino on a hot evening!
We used the hubs points from his frequent stays in Mexico to stay at the W Hotel in Boston for the night, which meant we got to spend Sunday strolling around the city. We hit up Newbury Street for some brunch on Sunday morning. Pete dreamt of bacon while I dreamt of shopping!
We then headed out around the city to snap some photos and enjoy the weather!
We stumbled upon Boston’s bike share program! Very similar to the NYC program I posted about last week! Biking is becoming all the rage.
We couldn’t leave the city without seeing the sites of the Boston marathon bombings. It was heartbreaking to see the memorial but I felt better seeing the number of Boston Strong messages throughout the city. I have to say that Boston is A LOT nicer than NYC in the summer! Way more green and way more clean!
It was interesting but Pete and I felt like we were on vacation this weekend even though we really weren’t per se. Just getting away for a night and staying in a hotel and hitting the beach made us feel like we had actually gone away and taken some real vacation time. I wouldn’t mind it if every weekend could feel like that!
Readers, what’s your favorite race and why? Have you ever felt like you were on vacation on a weekend? What did you do this weekend?
