Well hello there! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! The Hubs was home from Mexico for the whole weekend so we decided to make the absolute most out of it. For about the past year we have been wanting to go to The Met Martini Bar located on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I don’t know why it has taken us so long to get there but we finally went this weekend.
Holy moly! The views are amazing! It’s pretty crowded because you get a lot of people coming from the museum, tourists and locals but the space is large so it’s not crazy packed. Although the drink to the actual martini bar is quite long so we settled on the beer and wine only bar and got some champs and a Corona. You can’t go wrong with champs!
The sunset was pretty amazing!
We’ve been trying to soak up as much of summer that is left so on Saturday we hit up the Chobani Soho shop. I have an undeniable love for Chobani and their Soho creation store is so amazingly good.
Their specials this summer have been amazing and this weekend happened to be their one year anniversary so they had TWO specials! Bonus! We got one of each: Watermelon & Feta and Peach & Almond.
Of course I had to stock up on some yogurt for the week while I was there! It’s actually less expensive at the shop than in the grocery store! Go figure.
If you’re like me and you just can’t get enough of these warm, lazy summer days then I have the perfect recipe for you. I dreamt up these tropical tacos last weekend and was so looking forward to trying them out! It’s a Caribbean-inspired twist on a traditional shrimp taco.

August 25, 2013You probably went to my two favourite places in NYC! Next time you’re at the cho store walk down prince street and check out vesuvio bakery. Best chocolate chip cookies in existence! Those tacos look fantastic ๐
FitBritt
August 26, 2013Oh I’ll have to give it a try! It would be a nice dessert for my healthy yogurt snack! ๐
Kalee
August 26, 2013Wow –I had no idea there was a Chobani place. That is so cool! The tropical tacos look amazing. We’ve been soaking up the last bit of summer too ๐ Enjoy it!
FitBritt
August 26, 2013They only opened the Chobani shop about a year ago but it’s a good thing that I don’t live downtown. I would go everyday!
Nellie @ Brooklyn Active Mama
August 26, 2013Folks in the city love them a good rooftop bar! ME INCLUDED!! ๐ Love the pictures!!
FitBritt
August 26, 2013It’s one of the only places you can go to escape car horns and sirens! ๐
Tara
August 26, 2013What! I didn’t know they had a rooftop bar, I will definitely have to check it out next time I’m in the area!
I live in San Francisco, so we have plenty of amazing views. I suppose the best view would be of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge! Everyone loves that one.
FitBritt
August 26, 2013I have driven across the Golden Gate Bridge a couple of times on my way to Napa (wine or bust!) but I have no photos of it! Next time you are here, definitely go to the rooftop bar. It’s a lot of fun!

August 26, 2013That taco recipe sounds delightful! I actually just had some Blood Orange Chobani as a snack this morning, it was YUM ๐
FitBritt
August 26, 2013Oh the blood orange kind is good but I am the biggest fan of passionfruit!

August 26, 2013I think you managed to cover ALL my favorite things in this post with the exception of running! WOW that bar looks amazing. With views like that and martinis I wouldn’t want to leave! I had read about the Chobani store at Melissa Burton’s blog and I was salivating. You guys have all the fun in the city!! And, it’s lunchtime, I’m starving and one of my fav summertime eats are fish tacos so…close enough. I’m absolutely trying this recipe. THANK YOU!
FitBritt
August 26, 2013Haha! Well I didn’t run but I did walk around the Reservoir in Central Park! Next time you come to NYC, go to Chobani Soho. It’s really good and really fun!

August 26, 2013I’m not obsessed but my sister has me giving it a try lately. I’m glad you all spent some quality time. Those tacos look great! I usually do beef or chicken but an occasional shrimp taco is a treat! I had a jam packed weekend, wedding, soup kitchen, prison stuff, and I managed to play a whole lot too ๐ I treasure my off weekends because every other I have to spend it working all night!
FitBritt
August 26, 2013Weekends are precious commodities! Especially summer weekends. I like shrimp because I can usually find shrimp cheaper than chicken or beef so I look at it as an economical option. I guess any excuse for shrimp is good enough for me! ๐
Missy Homemaker
August 26, 2013These sound AMAZING!!! We all love shrimp but I don’t think we’ve ever had shrimp tacos.
FitBritt
August 26, 2013Oh you have to try them! They are so good! ๐
Melissa Burton
August 26, 2013Beautiful pictures! Sadly, I’ve never been to the rooftop bar at the Met ๐ but I will the next time I’m in town and the weather allows.
Lovely food shots and those tacos sound yum!
PS – I love a girl who thinks champs goes with everything (like Patsy from AbFab – the British comedy; if you haven’t seen it, see it soon!)!
FitBritt
August 26, 2013Oh I love AbFab! I used to watch it all the time when I lived in Sydney! You have to go to the Met Bar next time you are in town. The views are amazing and it’s not as pretentious as the trendy rooftop bars.
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health
August 27, 2013The views from that bar are stunning! I’ll have to bookmark it for the next time I go to New York.
I’ve never even heard of a Chobani creations store but it looks incredible. Another bookmark! ๐
I’m a huge fan of tropical flavors and your tacos sound delicious!
FitBritt
August 27, 2013The best part about the Chobani creations is that their recipes are all online so you can make them at home! ๐
Christine@ Apple of My Eye
August 27, 2013Ohhh baby do those tacos look good! I love sweat and salty combos, so putting in pineapple and mango sounds right up my alley ๐
FitBritt
August 27, 2013It’s an unexpected combo that works really well!
Nicole
August 27, 2013Looks like a great weekend! I had a girls weekend with my friends who are visiting, so I had an awesome weekend too!
Oh yes, I LOVE Greek yogurt too – and Chobani is also my favorite!
FitBritt
