Learn Basic Zumba Moves with This Easy Guide

Hey all!  How’s your week been going?  Don’t you just love a short week?!

Now, as you all know, I am a huge fan of dance based workouts and I have more than once professed my love for Zumba.  But, I know a lot of people feel intimidated walking into a dance fitness class for the first time.  They don’t know what to expect, they think they have two left feet or they just are not sure they will be comfortable with the choreography.  The great thing about Zumba is that the choreography may change every class and the patterns will be different, but there are a few basic moves that you will generally always see in a class. Once you master these basic moves, I promise you will feel so much more confident tackling the different choreography patterns. I’ve put together a step-by-step instruction of basic Zumba moves to help you learn.  Enjoy!

    oh what a fun post!! i really want to try zumba i love dancing!! and yes i actually love taking a basic class from time to time just to make sure i havent fallen into any bad habits. i used to do it quite often in yoga, and i just did one at bar method the other day. they’re great!

      I totally agree! I take Physique 57 near me and I booked a beginners class to go with my mom when she was visiting. It still kicked my butt! 🙂

    Loved this! I have done Zumba a couple times but I am embarrassingly TERRIBLE at it!! Maybe I’ll study up on these moves and bust them out next time!

      It is sooo okay to not be “good” at dancing. I love dancing and have been classically trained but in reality, dance is just about moving to music and anyone can do that. It’s not about looking good but about feeling good.

    You are so adorable!
    I am not coordinated enough to keep up with Zumba. I tried but I just couldn’t get the hang of it.
    These steps are really helpful though; I love how you break it down. You make it look easy but it definitely isn’t!

      Thanks Sarah! I highly recommend doing videos at home to get used to the choreography because you are less likely to be intimidated and you can get the idea of what to expect in class! 🙂

    Confession…I’ve never done a zumba class before! Like you said I am one of those people who is totally intimidated because I have two left feet! This is so helpful! I may have to practice your moves at home a little bit before I build up enough confidence to try out zumba 🙂

    I’ve only ever taken one Zumba class and, let’s just say it didn’t go well! I used to teach “Group Groove” and I really enjoyed that but it was way time consuming to learn all the moves!! This post is going to be super helpful for a few people I know!! Great idea to break it down!
