Hey there! As part of the Mini Blog Challenge hosted by Joi over at RxFitnessLady, we are stepping into our time machines and traveling back to 2003! Today’s post is Throwback Thursday “Ten Years”: A Day in the Life. Get excited for a day in the life of a future blogger! ๐
So ten years ago I was 20 years old. In college, not old enough to legally drink alcohol and I had not yet met the Hubs! Crazy times. To be honest, I can barely remember what a day in the life looked like back then but I’ll give it the old college try (har, har, pun intended- see yesterday’s post on humor).

So, let’s rewind 10 years (cue old school fuzzing fade with back to the future-type music and me dressed in something that is supposed to make me look younger).
8am- Alarm goes off, wake up call. Am exhausted because was inevitably up until at least 1 am. Shower, get dressed, eat breakfast and head off to class.
9:00am- First class of the day. I racked my brain for an example of a class I may have been taking at this time with no luck!
10:50 am- Class is OVER! Classes are long today because it’s a Tuesday/Thursday schedule and we only have class twice a week instead of three times, like a M/W/F class.
11am- Inevitably on to class number 2.

12:50 pm- Class 2 is OVER and I’m DONE for the day! Yay! Heading to D hall for lunch with friends!
1:50pm- Lunch is over and now it’s back to my apartment to study. I am one of the lucky few to be a junior in college and living in an on-campus apartment. I room with three seniors and compared to the dorms it feels like we have a ton of space!
2pm-5pm- Study, study, study!
5:15pm- Head to Modlin Center for dance class. It’s Thursday so I’m probably taking modern-my least favorite. After class we have rehearsal until 8:30pm for our show that will be in February. This year I’m choreographing a piece and I’m performing in a number of dance pieces.
8:45pm- Back at the apartment for a quick dinner. Probably chicken with veggies and a diet ginger ale. Some tv. Then more studying. Try to get to bed no later than midnight but probably doesn’t happen!
Ok, let’s compare shall we?
6am- Alarm goes off. It’s Thursday so I have physical therapy at 7am. If it were any other day of the week, I would be working out in my apartment, most likely doing Turbo Fire.
7am- At physical therapy (or most days of the week/when I’m not injured-showering and getting ready for work).
8:20 am- It’s out the door headed to the subway to Grand Central and then walking to my office.
9 am- I’m at my desk eating breakfast, usually yogurt with berries or toast with almond butter. Then it’s work, work, work until 1pm.
1pm- Lunch! I head outside for a walk and some reading/music time.
2pm- Back at my desk for some more work!
6pm- It’s time to head home. I’m out the door, to the subway and then home by 6:30pm
6:30 pm- Because I had PT in the morning I’m working out at night. If I was not working out in the evening I would blog, make dinner, eat dinner and watch some tv, more blog, do a few chores, respond to blog comments, social media share, etc.
11pm- BED!
Readers, what does your day look like? What were you doing 10 years ago!?

September 19, 2013haha this is great! yup i was 20 also and i would have been in the beginning of my semester abroad in florence exactly 10 years from today ๐ crazy looking back. now that was a fun schedule- i was taking creative writing, italian, ballet and flamenco dancing. that was an awesome year ๐
FitBritt
September 20, 2013Oh Florence, I am so jealous!!! Sounds amazing.
Carla
September 19, 2013Oh, I was raising kids. You know the usual. I bet thinking about college vs. now is an eye opener. It’s amazing what we think life will be like at that age.
FitBritt
September 20, 2013I feel like I’m a different person. In a good way but it’s also hard because you want to go back and do things differently and you can’t!

September 19, 201310 years ago life seemed a whole lot easier…but I had braces and we can all agree that that’s no fun!
FitBritt
September 20, 2013Totally agree! ๐ I had braces in middle school. Life was easier but not necessarily better . . . just different!

September 19, 2013I honestly cannot remember with that much detail what the heck was going on 10 years ago. I do remember that I had recently moved here to L.A. and was full of hopes and dreams. It was a good move!
FitBritt
September 20, 2013Glad it was a good move for you!

September 19, 2013I can’t remember very much except I was a junior in college!! I didn’t know you work near grand central! I am close to there as well!! Lunch one day?
FitBritt
September 20, 2013Absolutely!! ๐

September 19, 2013What a fun post! I started thinking about it, and I couldn’t remember much about a day in my life ten years ago either. I was almost twenty years old and in college so likely are days looked very similar (except dance-I have two left feet!).
Joi @ Rx Fitness Lady
September 19, 2013Cool that you did a comparison. Your day sounded typical except I was heading to basketball practice. I don’t think I had discovered just yet that you were a dancer….one more fitness quality of yours! Super cool throwback dear! Thanks for participating.
FitBritt
September 20, 2013Thanks Joi!

September 19, 2013Ten years ago I’d be starting my sophomore year at GWU, taking a lot of political science classes, watching a lot of SATC, and probably spending too much time and money at Starbucks. Now I spend my day running or Bar Method-ing (that’s weird verb), lawyering, blogging when I can, trying to relax at night and starting all over again ๐
FitBritt
September 20, 2013Sounds very similar! ๐

September 19, 201310 years ago… I was 16. I was in boarding school. I was actually starting to decline. My heath was suffering. I was depressed. I wanted to go home. I did get what I wanted. But I hated high school. I wanted to be done.
ADVANCE 10 years – AND I AM THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! All past experiences shape who I am as a person and I am thankful to have gone through so much CRAP to be the happy and appreciative camper I am today!
FitBritt
September 20, 2013I’m so glad you are in a better place now Gigi! I guess going through the hard stuff makes us appreciate the now even more.
Allie
September 20, 2013Love the dance class photo – but which one are YOU?? Isn’t it funny that we can’t remember what a one day at college was like? I can’t either!!
Your desk is so pretty. Love the Channel print out. I can almost smell it…ahhhhh!
FitBritt
September 20, 2013Thanks Allie! I’m down in the front in a pink leotard. ๐ I got that print on Etsy and I need to get a frame so I can hang it! It’s my signature scent!

September 20, 2013I just found your blog and this post make me laugh. Gosh, 10 years ago feels like FOREVER ago. I thought I was the coolest girl in middle school. Why? I do not know, but I did. Obviously, I wasn’t. I can only imagine where I’ll be 10 years from now—it seems so far away.
FitBritt
September 20, 2013I know! It’s scary to think about. It seems like so long ago but also not that far away!
Veronica
September 20, 2013Hey It’s me again….ok so I just finisehd stalking your blog! OMG you were BEA U TI FUL on your wedding day. You got married in Maui one of my favorite destinations in the world. My husband were just there for our 10 year anniversary (aslo where we honeymooned). Just found your blog thanks to Joi’s #mbc but you have a new follower.
FitBritt
September 22, 2013Thanks Veronica! I’m so glad we have virtually met! ๐ Good thing for these blog challenges since they help us to get to know one another better! ๐
Alison Hector
September 22, 2013Honestly, 10 years ago is a blur to me. A reminder that I’m getting oldddddddd. I’d have to pull out my journals to even get a sense of what was going on.
You did a great job capturing the then/now dynamic. How things change! Life in all its aspects….
Brooke @ Denault Studios
September 23, 2013Aw, I loved this post. The dance class photo is killing me (I did dance myself)
FitBritt
September 24, 2013Oh no way! I feel like it wasn’t that long ago but the photo looks so old!
