Hi there! How was your weekend? I don’t know about you but mine seem to fly by. I have no idea how one minute it’s 6pm on Friday and the next minute I’m going to bed on Sunday night preparing for the week ahead! This weekend was particularly relaxing. I started Saturday with an advanced class at Physique 57, which was incredibly challenging, and then mellowed out with their half hour stretch class in an attempt to meet some of my Awesome October goals. This week was one of my favorite weeks of the whole year . . . SPA WEEK! After my class I headed over to Sothys Spa for a facial. I love spa week because participating spas offer $50 treatments and the normally $120 facial at Sothys only cost me about $70 with tip. How awesome is that!? And so relaxing.
This weekend the Hubs and I *finally* went apple picking. The drive up to Westchester was unbelievable! I forget how much we miss living in the urban jungle but the trees were so vibrant with oranges, reds, yellows intermixed with the greens. A few trees looked as though they were on fire they were so colorful!
The drive was so relaxing and enjoyable looking at all the trees, but unfortunately when we got to the orchard, we learned that all of the apples had been picked off the trees! We did our best to find some located way at the top of the trees, but this was the best we could do:
Ahhh well. We filled out a large bag out of the bins of apples they had. We’ll know for next year to go a bit earlier. But it was worth the drive for the views. The orchard was located up on big hill overlooking corn fields. Nothing says fall more than this view! ๐
The orchard also had the most adorable pumpkin patch full of not just the orange variety but white ones as well!
I think our 700 sq ft apartment is a litle bit more suited for the smaller kinds, so we stocked up on some of those.
After we we left the orchard, we drove around looking for a place to eat the picnic we had packed. Westchester is an incredibly swanky area! Lots of horse farms and mansions. It was fun to window shop! ๐ We actually stumbled upon this park with the most amazing views and unpacked our picnic right there!
As if I need an excuse for cheese!
Once we got home, I couldn’t wait to display my new fall decorations around our house! So cute.
And because I just can’t help myself, here are a few more photos from the day!
Readers, what do you prefer: a facial or a massage? Have you been apple or pumpkin picking this season? Do you decorate for fall?

October 20, 2013Such gorgeous views!! I went apple picking a few weeks ago and it was fabulous. I was hoping to go again but was told it’s pretty much the end of the season and hard to get to them now but with your resourcefulness I might have been able to pull it off ๐

October 21, 2013Yeah I didn’t even realize that it was the orchard’s last weekend open!

October 20, 2013the fall foliage pictures are amazing.. i love massages over facial. i am so particular with what i put on my face so i always opt for a massage. i went apple and pumpkin last week in Long Island with some friends and family. we had a blast. i actually want to go back ๐ there’s something so peaceful about being on a farm..
FitBritt
October 21, 2013Oh I bet Long Island was gorgeous! It’s so nice out there in the fall.

October 21, 2013I love going to the spa in General…but if I had to choose, I would go with a massage.
I am from the sticks of CT, so I have gone apple and pumpkin picking more times than I would like to admit. My parents also have apple, peach, pear, and cherry trees in the yard too….but going to an apple farm is always more fun.
FitBritt
October 21, 2013I think that is so cool that your parents have all that amazing fruit! I hope they share! ๐

October 21, 2013Your pictures are so pretty! Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to go to apple picking this year. I am super excited for spa week, I hope I can get one in this week. I am a sucker for a great massage.
FitBritt
October 21, 2013I wanted to get a massage as well but it didn’t work out! ๐

October 21, 2013Ha, we both went apple picking (too late!) last weekend! I feel like I always wind up being late. I think it’s because I correlate pumpkin picking and October with apple picking, but I suppose the best time to go apple picking is in September.
Also, you and I are destined for a picnic meet-up at some point since we both love them (and cheese of course)!
FitBritt
October 21, 2013We are definitely destined for a picnic meetup!

October 21, 2013What a beautiful weekend. I love that picnic spot- gorgeous! It was worth the drive, even if you didn’t get to pick your apples.
I definitely prefer a massage to a facial but if I had my way, I’d get both!
FitBritt
October 21, 2013Definitely worth the drive and I would get both if I could!

October 21, 2013Beautiful views, fabulous food and pumpkins?! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend.
I just had my first massage last year and found it a little awkward. I have never had a facial but I really want to try it one day!
FitBritt
October 21, 2013Massages can definitely be a little awkward but if you get someone really good you forget about it!

October 21, 2013$50 facials?! Sign me up. The place I go to charges $100 but I love my esthetician so much I just cry every time I swipe my card.
Fall on the East Coast is so beautiful, we don’t have the color change like you guys do! We’re going to the pumpkin patch on Wednesday and I can not wait to carve them!
FitBritt
October 21, 2013If you find someone good, it’s worth it! Nothing beats the east coast for foliage!

October 22, 2013Holy crap! How big was that giant pumpkin?!? I bet it weighed more than you did! How do you manage to look so chic all of the time, lady?

October 23, 2013Looks like an amazing fall day with your hubs ๐ You are meeting your Oct goals no problem – “embrace the season”. I’ve never been apple picking but its on my bucket list. I also usually decorate for fall but my kitchen is undergoing mad renovations and my apt is a mess ๐
FitBritt
October 24, 2013I am definitely embracing fall! Good luck with your kitchen reno! ๐
