Hey there! Hope you had an enjoyable weekend! Ours was pretty low key but we did some fun things that were pretty quintessential New York. Remember when I told you about our trip to the U.S. Open? Well, apparently you can actually play tennis on the U.S. Open grounds! Who knew!? Tennis courts are a hot commodity in this city and to book space can be costly. This place was not cheap but we did get a reduced rate for going later in the evening. Plus, it was indoor, which is really hard to find.
I also broke out my baking skills this weekend and successfully made an Apple and Cranberry Crumble with all the apples we picked up last weekend apple picking.
I don’t know about you, but I am much better at cooking than baking. I’m not sure why. In theory if you are good at one you should be good at the other, but cooking is so much easier for me than baking. Luckily this Crumble came out really good! The recipe was from Gina at Skinnytaste.
I also cooked up some kale chips because I got the biggest bunch of kale at the farmer’s market last week. It was almost as big as my head!
It was such a nice day on Sunday so after brunch with some friends, the Hubs and I decided to walk the Brooklyn Bridge. I did this a few years ago but the Hubs had never actually done it. I thought I could get some good pictures so we made our away across the famous landmark. The photos didn’t come out too bad!

I’m with you on the baking vs. cooking. I’m definitely better at baking things and that crumble looks like it would go so well with my coffee!! The pics of the city came out GREAT! My friend was just there this weekend and sent me all kinds of pics and updates of celebrity sightings in Tribeca so now I really need to get there!! I want to plan a trip in the winter when the city is decorated for the holiday season. If I do, we have to meet up!
Okay, I’m like the worst St. Louisan ever! Everybody kept talking about the Cards and it was three games in before I figured out what was going on. And honestly, the fact that Bones isn’t on tonight is really upsetting me. But…yeah, Cards!
I have not been to New York but would love to. Especially if I can take my mom because it’s her dream place to go. Although, I doubt seriously she would do all the fun active things with me. But I still want to go with her. 🙂

I definitely love both cooking and baking, but I think I’m a better cook. It’s easier for me to get creative and for things to turn out well when I cook. But, I do have to say that I find baking to be more therapeutic than cooking. PS – your apple crumble looks yummy!
Those pictures of the city are beautiful! I like baking when I’m not trying to make something healthy, then it’s much easier to have success. That crumble turned out great, I love Gina’s blog.

I am excited to take classes with Brittany in person this summer! I have followed Brittany online for some time. I particularly like the Barre and Pilates workout videos. Her workout techniques reflect current thinking and best practices. She supports all levels of fitness. Definitely worth a try!
Brittany is the BEST. She is inspirational, motivational and innovative. No two classes are ever the same. I'm sad when the summer classes end, but I'm looking forward to checking out her online classes this fall and winter.
