The holidays are here! The holidays are here! December is so delightful because the holidays are here! And with that I have a big announcement to make about why my December will be so delightful.
This year I’ll be heading to Australia to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s with my husband’s family for the first time EVER! And . . . my parents are coming too! How amazing is that!? But don’t worry, I’m not going to leave you hanging because I have a lineup of some pretty incredible bloggers to fill the void while I’m gone with their amazing guest blogging skills!
While Australia will undoubtedly make my December very delightful, here are a few other things that also will make December delightful:
1.) Holiday lights. Who doesn’t love Christmas lights? They are the best!
2.) Store displays. Last year I went a little nuts to take photos of the store displays. I stopped short of pushing small children and old ladies out of the way to snap the perfect pic though, so no worries.
3.) Christmas trees. Normally we buy ours straight off the sidewalk. That’s city living folks. But this year we will not be getting our own tree so I’ll have to rely on the one in the lobby and the big one in Rockafellar Center to satisfy my tree cravings!
4.) Holiday drinks. Hot chocolate in a Christmas mug? Gingerbread latte? Yes, please!
5.) Holiday dinners. I made this one for the Hubs. A simple beef and spinach dish with a side of bruschetta and Clos Du Val-we served it at our wedding!
6.) This gingerbread toast!
7.) Holiday music! I love listening to holiday music. My favorites are Michael Buble’s album and Christmas Jazz.
8. Holiday parties! I always enjoy attending office holiday parties. I think they are really fun! I always get my dress from Rent the Runway* because I can get a great dress for not a lot of money. In the past I’ve rented a Badgley Mischka dress and a David Meester dress for holiday parties. Last year I got a Trina Turk dress for NYE. It’s awesome because I love getting new dresses but hate spending the money and these designers are really great! You get the dress for four days and return shipping is paid for you! This year I got this Nicole Miller dress for my office party. Lots of fun!
9. Holiday decorations. Since we are going away, we are not going crazy this year but I couldn’t help but break out our driftwood tree adorned with a starfish top. It is the little bit of holiday we need!
There are so many things that can make December delightful! Readers, what is making December delightful for you?
*If you decide to use this link to sign up and rent a dress, I will receive a $20 credit to my account that goes towards my next rental. It does not change the price of your rental. Thank you for trusting my opinion! 🙂

December 8, 2013Love the dress on you.
I do love the holiday lights! There is a house on my way home from work that has a massive display. They have a very large U shaped driveway in the front and they let you drive through for free. There is a place to put donations if you want as I’m sure this is an expensive endeavor for them. I love it!
FitBritt
December 10, 2013Thanks Carla! I can only imagine how much holiday lights can get. Some people really go all out!

December 9, 2013I love pretty much all of the things that you mention too! I’m such a sucker for the holidays. I was practically giddy decorating my house. My hubby loves holiday music too, so we pretty much rock out to Mariah Carey for a month every year!
I didn’t know that your parents are going to Australia as well, how awesome is that!?!
That dress looks fab on you! I’ve only tried Rent the Runway once, and while I still wore it and thought it looked nice, it was super tight around my chest and back. The whole night I was like, “Damn it boobs!!” Haha.
FitBritt
December 10, 2013Haha! I love it! I wish my hubs got more into the spirit with music & stuff.
Yeah, sometimes the fit can be pretty weird but the two sizes help!
