Hello friends! Or should I say, bye friends! I’m leaving on an aeroplane today to take me to some (hopefully) warm and sunny weather! But don’t worry, you won’t miss me because I’ll be back Monday with a new post and you’ll get to see some fabulous guest posters next week! Also, I couldn’t let the week go by without Friday’s Food & Fitness! No theme this week, just food & fitness
Well, if you say Tuesday’s post on How To Create a Week of Healthy Meals, then you know what I’ve been up to in the food department! I have to say that everything just tastes better when you don’t have to do much cooking! And the prospect of having dinner ready when I get home…amazing!
My veggie curry was one of my favorites. So delicious and nutritious and colorful!
Wonderful news, friends! My foot is feeling so.much.better! Yay! I was practically having a nervous breakdown that I was going to have to wear a boot in Australia. Nooooooo! To be extra careful I still stayed away from impact workouts this week and dabbled in a few faves:
– Pump (again!) – I better have some sweet looking muscles when I hit the beach next week based on all this crazy lifting I’ve been doing.
– Flywheel – I used to hate spin classes. Like really hate them and now they are one of my favorites! I don’t know what happened but when boutique cycling hit the scene instructors got better, music was more fun, the workout was more challenging. Flywheel kicks my booty every time!
– Physique 57– This is just a given. I tried their new online workout featuring Erin Andrews. Loved the workout! The only drawback was that the price was $10 instead of the normal $5. What’s up with that!?
– Turbo Fire- Don’t worry, I stayed away from the cardio and just did the sculpting and stretching classes.
When my foot began hurting I thought I was going to have to give up so much but in reality there are so many non-impact options. Now that my foot is healing I am going to make it a point to include more non-impact workouts on a weekly basis. I may not have a stress fracture but my injury was definitely my body’s way of saying “too.much.jumping!”
Readers, do you try to incorporate low impact workouts into your routine? What is the longest flight you’ve ever done? What are you doing for the holidays?
Whhhat!! Can’t believe you’re going to Australia! Take lots of pictures!!
My longest flight was probably to China…14 hours! I was going crazy by the end. I am not envious of your flight…it’s one of the main reasons I’m scared to go to Australia one day.
Farewell my friend!! You know how I feel about flying so all I can say is GOOD LUCK! What an adventure for you – I’m jealous.
I was a very good girl today and swam in the pool to try and rest my IT band that has been grumpy lately. We’re getting ready for a snow dump (you’re getting out just in time!) so I’ll probably be snowbound for the next couple days. I do, however, have snowshoes and x-country skis 🙂
HAVE A SAFE & AWESOME TRIP!!! I’ll be traveling tomorrow — and have not done any packing whatsoever yet ahh! My longest flight was 18 hours to Thailand — it wasn’t even that bad because I knocked myself out with some sleeping pills and few glasses of wine haha I knew it was the only way I’d get through it without poking my eyeballs out!! My 6 hour flight tomorrow will be a piece of cake compared to yours. Hope you have lots to keep you entertained!
Oh my gosh, when it comes to foot injuries, it really makes all the difference if you keep it low impact. I’ve been doing mostly low impact exercise since hurting my foot earlier this year. As soon as I start to do something where I’m jumping around a lot of putting lots of pressure on my foot, it starts to bug me again. It’s annoying, but like you said, there are so many low impact yet effective workouts to do. The only things that are on my definite no-no list are running and shadow boxing for a long time!
Excellent workout as always. It's challenging, fun and easily one of my favorite workouts!
Fantastic class! Great technique pointers. Always new exercises to challenge oneself!
I am excited to take classes with Brittany in person this summer! I have followed Brittany online for some time. I particularly like the Barre and Pilates workout videos. Her workout techniques reflect current thinking and best practices. She supports all levels of fitness. Definitely worth a try!
Brittany is the BEST. She is inspirational, motivational and innovative. No two classes are ever the same. I'm sad when the summer classes end, but I'm looking forward to checking out her online classes this fall and winter.
My wife and I decided to give Balance Barre Fitness a try and we were not disappointed. We thought the classes would be pretty easy but were surprised at how rigorous they were. The class was great for working on our coordination and core strength. I don't get to many ...
