Friday’s Food & Fitness: Sweet Potatoes + Zumba

Hi friends!  We’ve made it to another Friday!  What are your weekend plans?  Nothing too crazy over here but I’m sure we will manage to make the most of it. Welcome to this week’s edition of Food & Fitness!

So I’ve been on a real sweet potato kick lately! Did you know sweet potato is:

– Full of fiber that helps keep you full and can promote weight loss.

– Full of Vitamin B6, which helps prevent the hardening of arteries and promotes a healthy heart.

– Rich in Vitamin A or beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant that promotes eye health and helps repair UV damage.

– Rich in Vitamins C & E, also full of antioxidants that help prevent disease.

Good stuff, right?  I’ve had my orange friend for dinner every night this week! #obsession

I’ve got two awesome sweet potato recipes for you to try!

Oh and speaking of obsessions… A Juice Generation just opened up near my apartment.  Oh man, I can’t even tell you how excited I am.  I finally went there this week and got their Hail to Kale with kale, watermelon, apple and lemon.

The small size was actually a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be and I won’t even tell you how much it cost, but man it was amazing!  I’m going to need a loan to support this habit!

Besides hitting up Body By Simone, I’ve been back on a Zumba kick lately.  I’m loving the recent ZIN releases!  Remember back when I did the master class with Loretta Bates, well it was unquestionably amazing but what is even more fun now is that she actually did a lot of the choreography at that class that I am now seeing on the ZIN releases.  How cool is that?  I am so excited to have that same choreo in my living room!

I feel like they are really stepping it up and adding in some more hip hop and other popular modern dance styles to the traditional salsa, merengue, cumbia format.

Oh and because I’ve become totally obsessed with Zumba again, I may have recently purchased something Zumba related that will undoubtedly be making an appearance for a review soon!  🙂

Readers, what’s your latest obsession?  How much is too much to spend on juice?  Can you eat the same thing every night?

I love sweet potatoes…but I hate having to cut them for french fries. They are so hard! But I always love the end result. 🙂

    Have a great weekend, girlie!

Oooh those sweet potato fries sound incredible. I love spicy, and I definitely prefer sweet potato over regular white ones. A little spice never hurt anyone 😉

Can’t wait to try my hand at those nachos… they look so tasty! I can eat the same foods day-after-day. In fact, next week the husband’s gone on business, so it’ll be me making dinner Monday night and eating that all week. Maybe I’ll throw those nachos in mid-week to mix things up 🙂

Ha, that is my favorite zin dvd so far…I took pachanga and no wiri wiri right from there and dropped in my class rotation same week!!

I love sweet potatoes, although I am always having them prepared for me, I have never done it!

I love that Zin too! I’ve already done it a bunch of times!

Sweet potatoes are kind of tough to cut in my opinion.

I love sweet potato fries and my own recipe for whipped sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving. How innovative, however, with the Irish Nacho recipe! I bet you could come up with juices as good as Juice Generation–but you do not need to do so if they are way too close to your home to resist.

That is how I make my sweet potato fries! I think it makes them taste BBQish. I may try some Zumba again in a few weeks after I’m able to do some more things. The studio I go to is really hot so it’s like hot Zumba. LOL!

They are so good! I love them when they are prepared in a savory manner to balance out all the sweetness!

Oh you have to try the nachos! They are delicious! My secret to making them healthier is to use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream!

Sweet potato fries are so delicious! I made jicama fries this weekend to change it up a little. They were so so good. I love experiementing with food…obviously. Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

I love sweet potato fries. I often coat them with cinnamon or paprika. I find they god great with salmon, beef or pork. I am not a big juice person and we actually don’t have a lot of choice here in France. I stick with water or coffee most of the time.

Sweet potato fries do go well with a variety of proteins. Plus they are so healthy! I have been trying to drink more water lately!
