Hey friends! Hope you had a good weekend! I’m a little behind because I’ve been out of the county on a fun, but short trip! More details to come! But let’s talk about some prenatal yoga!
I’ve always been a huge fan of yoga, even before I was pregnant. Now that I’m pregnant, I love it even more. If my back is aching, my feet are swollen or I’m just feeling a bit tired, yoga just has a way of making me feel more energized yet also relaxed. Of course, with everything in pregnancy, modifications are necessary. I’ve put together a few of my favorite prenatal yoga moves that I’ve found either work well for pregnancy or are easily modified.* Enjoy!
Readers, what’s your favorite yoga pose? Have you ever done something that is both relaxing and energizing at the same time? Do you use yoga more for stretching or strengthening?
* These moves are based on my own practice and my own ability level. Always do what feels best for your body and your baby. Consult a physician before doing this or any other form of exercise. Seek a certified yoga instructor for guidance on how to perform each move.
My sister in law just mentioned that she wanted some exercise tips for pregnancy, Ill have to send her this link.
Yoga kicks my trash. The times I have done it, I get so tired my muscles are all shaking. I think I should try it out for the stretching and relaxation–sounds much better haha. Thanks for your post!
Running can be my relaxer and energizer–when I’m just enjoying the scenery. I love those moments!
With my recent exercise restriction, I was thinking of asking you for some good prenatal yoga stretches to do. I’ve been doing cat/cow a lot the past 8 months, but I’m not the most knowledgable when it comes to yoga. Thanks!
Prenatal yoga has seriously been a life saver for me! When by back starts to hurt and I’m feeling super achy, I do some yoga moves and it really makes such a difference. It loosens everything up and I agree that it does make you feel reenergized.
Agreed, yoga always makes me feel more looser and relaxed! Lately I’ve been loving this one pose and I don’t even know the official name of it… but it’s a lunge where you clasp your hands behind your back. If feels so good on my shoulders and back!
Hip stretch (happy cow) is my favorite still to this day! My glutes get very tight and after leg day, I cool down with this stretch and work my hands side to side in front of me. OUCH!

July 29, 2014You make those poses look easy even being pregnant – I’m pretty awful at all yoga poses!!!

August 3, 2014Kim, you are so fit that I’m sure you are not awful! I have had 20 plus years of ballet and dance experience which helps with my flexibility though!

August 3, 2014I find that even 10 minutes of yoga stretching makes a huge difference in how I feel, especially because I sit at a desk all day.
