I think I’m destined to practice yoga with Tara Stiles. I started checking out her online classes on YouTube and them found her yoga sequences recently at the W Hotel Boston. Then last week I had the opportunity to check out her energizing class at the *new* Reebok FitHub in Union Square (Reebok is hosting free classes at their FitHubs, scroll to the end of this post for more info!).
When you think energizing yoga class you might think a fast-paced, focused class where everyone is concerned with their drishti gaze and their breath. Tara’s class is just the opposite, it’s fun and light-hearted. She laughed so much during class it was impossible not to have a smile on my face. Her sequences moved quickly but rather than feeling difficult, they felt uplifting.
In a class once, the teacher told us that she was there merely to give us suggestions and this was our practice and we should decide what suggestions to keep or not. Nothing could be more true in Tara’s class. She gives you suggestions on how to move your practice forward or maybe how to modify and scale it back, making it the perfect class for everyone and all levels. We had beginners and gurus alike!
Tara is also known for being a bit of a yoga rebel, which I love! We listened to contemporary music during class and the entire hour had an extremely chill vibe. As a Reebok Ambassador, Tara has created a cool playlist of yoga videos for Reebok, check it out here!
The best part about the class was that it was held at the brand new Reebok FitHub in Union Square. On a gorgeous summer evening, we practiced in store with the doors wide open, welcoming any passerby in who might want to check out the yoga class going on. The FitHub is huge and full of drool-worthy gear. There were about a 100 things I wanted to purchase right then and there! I loved the dance gear (perfect for Zumba or any of the other awesome dance classes in NYC!) and the yoga gear.
These pants! I die!
And of course a wall of brightly colored shoes.
One of the coolest parts of the Reebok FitHub was the ability to screen print any item called “Local Ink.” I snapped a few pictures of examples.
I mean you could buy an I heart NY t-shirt OR you could visit the FitHub and get a totally awesome, completely customized yoga top with the Statute of Liberty. I know what I would choose! I think I’m going to go back and get a tank done. I just couldn’t decide what I wanted! Plus, it’s *FREE*!
Luckily for my credit card I didn’t do too much damage because I was fortunate enough to get this outfit from Reebok complimentary for the class.
These pants are totally rockin! I used to be all about the black bottoms but lately I’ve been wanting to branch out a bit and I am kind of obsessed with how awesome these pants are! I think they are kind of space-inspired.
I also love love love this sports bra with the crosses on them. It reminded me of stars and the bra is perfect for activities like yoga, barre and pilates. Plus it looks super cute under this awesome tank. I’m digging the whole black and white theme.
And the BEST part about this entire experience? I scoped out something for you, my dear readers: *FREE* fitness classes at Reebok FitHub Union Square! There is an amazing line up of classes including some running events and Les Mills classes on the horizon (squeal with delight!). Check out their full lineup here. Classes are ongoing so no worries if you can’t make any of the upcoming ones, there will be more! And, if you can’t be bothered to leave your neighborhood to check out the Union Square FitHub, do check out one of the other amazing FitHub locations like the Upper East Side, 5th Ave, Westchester and Garden State.
Readers, do you prefer black pants or prints? Have you ever tried a Tara Stiles yoga class (online or in-person)? What do you think of free, in-store classes?
