What’s Grokker? + A Giveaway!

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Grokker.  All opinions are 100% my own!

Have you heard of Grokker? Grokker is a new online health and fitness platform that not only offers videos to help you achieve your fitness and health goals, but it focuses on the social network aspect as well. We all know that being healthy can’t happen in a bubble and I’ve heard more than one blogger express how much they value the online healthy living community, well, Grokker’s the place where all that talk turns into action!

If you are wondering, what’s up with the name Grokker, don’t worry, I was too. Grok means to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes part of the observed. Basically, to say that you are a Grokker means that you have been transformed by an experience. Lorna Borenstein, the CEO and Founder of Grokker wants you to feel transformed when you use this platform.

I love the idea that Grokker was created by Lorna when she was on a traveling sabbatical with her family and couldn’t find high quality online fitness and cooking to tutorials to maintain her healthy lifestyle. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Ok, well, besides the fact that we could all use a bit of a sabbatical, I think the idea of having pre-vetted, high quality videos at your fingertips makes it so much easier to fit workouts and healthy eating into your lifestyle.

I was excited to check out all of Grokker’s cool videos. Have you seen that commercial with Dax Sheppard and Kristin Bell where she is just sitting watching a yoga video and she says “Eyes are muscles too.” Yeah, that’s me! (Also, Kristin Bell is preggers in that commercial and I think we kind of look similar…I think she is my spirit animal). I literally signed up for Grokker and sat down and started watching all the yoga and fitness videos. What can I say, I like to preview before I do!

Here’s What I Love:

· There are a ton of great fitness AND yoga workouts on this site. Often times you will just get fitness or just yoga. This site combines them!

· The cooking videos are awesome, easy to follow and not too long! Some of my favorites included making your own baby food, healthy cooking, vegetarian and vegan cooking and Indian cooking (I just really love Indian food). I use the farm-to-table videos for ideas on what to do with my farmer’s market finds!

· There are a ton of different experts so you aren’t stuck with one expert style. Sometimes you can have high hopes for a class and then you just don’t click with the instructor. Luckily Grokker has a ton of experts so you are bound to find someone you like!

· The Q&A Café is the perfect place to post questions you might have about fitness, yoga or cooking and you can get an expert answer. Plus, you can see questions and answers from other people so you might find the info you are looking for!

· Kino MacGregor Yoga! I started following her on Instagram during September for National Yoga Month so I could join in for the pose of the day. She is an amazing yogi and she has some great tutorials on how to do more advanced poses. This is awesome if you are looking to advance your practice a bit.

Here’s What I Want to Love More:

· Grokker has a really cool concept of a live group class. Basically at an appointed time you can join a live class from the Grokker homepage and you can join in a pre- and post-class chat with other members. I really love this concept, although the times and the types of classes offered didn’t appeal to me (although their Abs & Core class is supposed to be super popular, it just isn’t working for me right now). Also, I think it would be cool if there was another way to interact during class. For example, one of the reasons I love my favorite spin studio is because there is an element of competition with the leaderboard and seeing who is pushing the most. I would love to see something like that from Grokker.

· More pre- and post-natal workouts! There were a number of prenatal yoga classes that I was able to do but not a lot of other prenatal classes. I would love to see some more prenatal fitness orientated classes, as well as some post-natal “getting mom back in shape” videos.

Ok, here’s where it gets good for you!  Grokker and FitFluential have teamed up for 4 Weeks of Wellness Challenge.  The purpose of the challenge is to get you to adopt a healthier lifestyle.  Each WEEK there is a new giveaway with your chance to win!  You can win a Grokker water bottle, apron, t-shirt + $100 Lululemon gift card!  It’s so simple to enter.  First, sign up for Grokker (for free!) here to access the videos and the challenge.  Download the monthly calendar and enter the rafflecopter giveaway here!

Readers, what is the number one thing that would motivate you to do online workouts? Do you like to preview your workouts first? Have you ever used cooking videos for inspiration?
