At nearly 39 weeks I’m faced with the fact that my pregnancy journey is coming to an end and my mommy journey is about to begin. I can’t believe how quickly it went by! I feel like it was just yesterday that I found out we were expecting and then that we were having a boy. Nine months seems like such a long time and then like a snap it’s over! I made this little video to capture my journey through pregnancy and my expanding belly!
Pregnancy Things I’ll Miss
Seats on the subway. Ok this one definitely isn’t a given since I’ve had plenty of people push ahead of me to get on the train and grab the last seat or pretend not to notice my gigantic belly as I’m standing over them. But a lot of New Yorkers are very polite and have been nice enough to offer me a seat, which is like gold in this big city.
Prenatal exercise. Of course I’ll be able to get back into my old routine, which is exciting, but I’ll miss the automatic license to take it easy when you just aren’t feeling it.
The kicks. Oh this is the best part about being pregnant. Feeling the little baby’s kicks and watching my belly move is the best.thing.ever.
Special treatment from the Hubs. Ok, he has always treated me wonderfully but I like getting out of doing the dishes by saying “I’m tired and I’m growing a human.”
Sleep. I’ve heard it gets worse…
Me time. Taking care of a tiny human is going to be very time consuming. Pregnancy is a great excuse to spend a little extra me time doing nice things for yourself and I know these days are limited.
Pregnancy Things I Won’t Miss
Non-alcoholic wine. There is a reason why wine has alcohol in it So looking forward to my first post-baby glass!
Back pain. As soon as I hit the third trimester, I had the worst back pain. It doesn’t quit!
Heartburn, indigestion, nausea. All wonderful side effects of pregnancy I will not miss!
The extra weight. I don’t think any woman enjoys this part of pregnancy.
Sleep. It’s been really tough the last few weeks.
Swelling. I can’t even stand to look at my feet and my wedding rings haven’t come off in weeks.
Waiting. Nine months is a long time to wait to meet this little man!
Readers, how have you felt at the end of a long journey? Moms, what did you like/dislike the most about pregnancy?
Love, love love the photo. If you don’t mind, I may have to steal this idea once my own pregnancy comes to an end. I’m with you on it going by incredibly quick. Almost too quick really. You honestly make such a beautiful pregnant lady! I just love your bump.
Love the slide show!! Looks like he has dropped – so exciting that the time is so soon!!!
I still (over 13 years since I was pregnant) miss the kicks and flips inside – one of the best feelings every!!!
You have so much to look forward to – the start of a new life and new addition to your family is such a great time.
Love the slide show, super cute! I think the end of pregnancy is such a wonderfully exciting and anxious time! All the waiting and wondering when and how things will go can get overwhelming! I’m definitely ready to be done with this whole pregnancy thing too. I do not enjoy the physical side of things and can’t wait to have a little more room for my stomach so that each meal doesn’t result in terrible reflux.
All that complaining aside, nothing compares to newborn baby snuggles and I am so excited for them and to have our new little man here for the holidays!
What an exciting time for you! Hopefully not too much longer until you get to meet your little man!
You are seriously the cutest thing ever! Seriously! So exciting though… you have a great list of things to miss (and not miss!) Glad that its been a great experience for ya… and you def deserve to get out of doing the dishes!! hahaha 🙂
That video is just the BEST! Your little man will be so excited to see that someday. My boys are always asking to see pictures of me when I was pregnant with them, and I’m so glad I took so many! It’s so funny though because they will say “That’s not the REAL mommy!” because I have long hair and I’m huge!!!
As you know, I’m so excited for you. You’re about to start the best time of your life. Get ready!
I’m so excited for you! So close now. I love feeling baby moving and kicking and I love having a bump. I could do without the no alcohol and less coffee, though!! You are going to love newborn snuggling, when his little head fits just so into your neck. Just the best. xo
Oh my goodness, LOVE the video! I have to remember this when I’m pregnant and feel all big and uncomfortable, but I seriously think that fit women look so adorable pregnant. You’ve looked great the entire pregnancy lady!
I really like this post. I have a 12 week old baby boy and pregnancy feels like ages ago but it really wasn’t. It was such a very special time. Kicks were my favorite! The sleep does get a lot worse, but it’s so rewarding those late night wake ups. Life is so different now than it was during pregnancy but in the best way. So excited for you and your little boy! 🙂
Aw I love this! You’re adorable 🙂 I definitely think I would milk the benefits of being pregnant so much haha like seats on public transportation and treatment from others. Plus that close parking spot! haha. But after all you go through (weight gain, nausea, responsibility for, you know, another HUMAN LIFE) you deserve it!
How exciting!! I totally don’t miss the cankles at all, mine were horrible! 🙂 Ah, but when you meet that little guy…your whole world will shift and it will be the most amazing thing ever. I can’t wait for you to meet him! You have done so great in your pregnancy!
I LOVED this post and loved, loved, loved your cute video! You are a beautiful pregnant mama! I can definitely relate to all of the pluses and minuses you mentioned. Pregnancy is rough, but so cool at the same time. I’m so excited for you to meet your sweet little one!! I’m so darn tired all the time with our babe, but am loving every single second!
