Hi friends!! How is the holiday season treating you? Hopefully you are feeling jolly rather than burned out. I am still having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that it is December. In fact, exactly one year ago I left for an epic trip to Australia with my family. I can’t believe a whole year has gone by and now I have an entire new person in my life that was not even in existence a year ago. Crazy!!
We all know this time of year can be just that–crazy–so I’ve put together The Twelve Days of Fitness to help you get in a mini workout even when you are busy shopping/party hopping/gifting or doing whatever it is you do during the holidays! For the next 12 days I’ll be posting one fitness activity a day to help you stay motivated and move. Feel free to play along, especially on Instagram!
This total body workout is great to do when you are short on time! It works your entire core (abs AND back), your arms, your glutes and is quite challenging! It’s up to you how long you hold it for but won’t you challenge yourself to a minute? A fun variation might be to lift one leg or dip the hips side to side. Feel free to do on forearms or with straight arms!
Readers, what is your favorite plank variation? How are you celebrating the holidays this year? Do you find that you have time to workout during the holiday season?
This is a great idea! I love it. And, I SO remember your trip to Australia and all the great pictures. I also cannot believe that was already a year ago. I wish things would just slow down this time of year rather then speed up. I know time slows when I’m planking – that’s for sure!!
Hi !
My first favorite plank position is holding it on my hands then putting my knees on the mat and crossing my ankles–hold for 10 seconds or do 4 or 5 pushups. My second favorite plank position is putting my elbows down on foam blocks so my whole forearm is resting on the block–then hold.
Glad you had an epic holiday last year–this year your family has made every year the most important one! I am enjoying my family every second that I can. And, no, I do not find I have a great amount of time for myself during the holidays–but that thought is gone once January rolls around!
I really need to start doing planks again! Maybe when I’m home and not staying in a hostel. People might think it’s weird if I start planking in the middle of the bedroom. 😛

December 18, 2014Haha. There are two times in life when time moves really slow: when you are in a plank and when you are at the dentist!

December 15, 2014LOVE this idea!! I love planks and do them all the time – I’m especially a fan of side plank reps. Definitely gets my obliques working!
