Hey there! Can you believe that 2014 is coming to a close? I can’t! What on earth even happened since the new year? Oh wait, A LOT has happened! I love spending a few minutes reflecting on the year and all the good things that have happened. Despite not being at my peak of fitness this year, there have been some really amazing health and fitness moments. With this year being so amazing, I can only imagine how amazing next year will be! Hopefully I’ll be able to check a lot of things off my Post-baby Bucket List! Check out my list of the Top Fitness and Health Moments in 2914
1. Blogfest– Blogfest was such an amazing conference. Two days of advanced blogging seminars where I learned a ton plus admission to the IDEA fitness expo. Plus I got to take class with Chalene Johnson, one of my all time favorites!
2. Yoga at the MoMa– There is something so peaceful about doing yoga dressed in all white in a museum. I wanted to go to this event so badly last year so I was pretty excited to snag a ticket this year. It was so much better than I could have expected. The instructors were amazing and the vibe was pretty chill.
3. Athleta’s Crush of Adrenaline Fashion Show– This was one of my favorite events of the entire year! Fashion week + fitness clothing = my dream event! I was so excited to check out this show and it did not disappoint. The choreography was amazing! Who wants to watch ready-to-wear when you can watch breakdancing and gymnastics?
4. Fitness Magazine Meet and Tweet– Another highlight of the year, this event brought together all of my favorite bloggers for a day filled with good food, great speakers and lots of cool products. Fitness Magazine went all out and it proved to be an event to remember!
5. Celebrate InStyle– This fashion-focused event was the perfect kickoff to the holiday season. I loved checking out all the hot holiday items and schmoozing with the fashionistas! Plus the vegetarian finger food was pretty awesome!
6. Solstice in Times Square– This event is a staple for me every year. I love kicking off the longest day of the year with an amazing yoga class in the busiest place on earth. Talk about moving meditation!
7. September National Yoga Month– Every year I celebrate National Yoga Month and this year I managed a pose a day, which was not easy given my big preggo belly! Plus, I had a lot of fun clicking photos in cool places like Athens, the beach, Central Park and the subway! Check out my Instagram account to see the whole month!
8. Self Workout in the Park– Another annual event for me, SELF’s Workout in the Park always offers fun and fresh classes with lots of great product samples. This year was no exception!
9. A Healthy U– The first conference all about health and wellness hosted by Nellie from Brooklyn Active Mama, Kimberly from Manifest Yourself and Cassandre from Losing in the City. The energy at this conference was amazing! If you didn’t get to go to the first one, look for round two in 2015!
10. Yoga in Bryant Park– Another annual favorite, yoga in a huge park with hundreds of people. It sounds chaotic but it is amazingly relaxing. I love being able to yoga outdoors!
11. Free classes at Pier 25– Outdoor classes in the summer that are free? Oh heck yes! I love these classes and I love being outdoors! It doesn’t hurt that they are on the water, even if that water is the Hudson River!
12. Master class with Loretta Bates– A master Zumba class with Loretta Bates, the star of Zumba DVDs and video games. She had amazing energy and it was one of the best 90 minute workouts I’ve had all year! I loved every second of her class from the music to the choreography to her personality. So fun!
Readers, what are some of your health and fitness highlights from this year? Do you like to reflect on the year past? What are your goals for 2015?

December 29, 2014I’m envious of your many opportunities to do such cool fitness things! I had a good 2014. Being pregnant really reinvented my relationship with exercise into something much healthier. I stopped worrying about programs, rigid routines, and calorie burns, and was better at just appreciating what I could do, when I could. And now, as a new mom, I’m staying focused on a little bit being better than nothing, because some days 15 minutes is all I have to workout!
FitBritt
January 1, 2015I completely agree with you on a little is better than nothing. I used to get really annoyed if my workouts were interrupted but now I’m just trying to roll with it!

December 29, 2014It looks like you did so many fun things in 2014 and I’m sure 2015 will be filled with so many amazing baby-memories!! My highlight was definitely running my first half marathon, which I loved! My goal for 2015 is to run the same one in under 2:00. Maybe it’s time I stop eating all the Christmas cookies and actually start running again…
FitBritt
