Mind/Body After Baby: Month 2

Hi!  So I know I just posted Month 1 of Mind/Body After Baby two weeks ago but I was late on that post due to the holidays.  So we are already to month 2!!  Cooper turned 2 months on Saturday and all I have to say is that time really does fly!  I feel like we brought him home just yesterday.

So much has changed already!  He started smiling at us (yay!) and he is much more aware of his surroundings.  He really no longer does grumpy baby resting face (although I found a photo of this from last month!).

We have “conversations” now, which consist of us talking to him and him babbling back.  He is still an excellent sleeper and can even put himself to sleep–I swaddle him, give him his pacifier and turn on ocean noise and he is asleep within 30 minutes.

He has actually begun to not scream and cry during baths, which makes me think he might start liking them!  This is a good thing since we’ve recently had several poop explosions that necessitated a bath!

In addition to his gorgeous smiles and eye tracking, he also does some pretty classic crying faces.  I mean sticking his lip out with a little quiver.  It is priceless!  I am not sure laughter from us is his goal but I can only giggle when I see his little pouty lip!

Naps during the day can be a little challenging.  He doesn’t like to be put down and usually naps when he is in a carrier or the stroller or the car.  It makes it difficult to get anything done although I often wear him in a wrap around the house!

I’m back!  Ok, I’m not 100% where I was pre-pregnancy but I’m definitely back to taking classes and I feel pretty good.  I’ve been taking a Babies on Board barre class with the little guy, which is perfect for a great workout and quality baby time!

I’ve also managed to get to some classes on the weekend while the Hubs watches little Coops, which has been so great.  There has been a huge improvement in my fitness level from last month.  I really feel more like my pre-pregnancy self in terms of fitness.  I’m still working on bringing my abs back but on the overall, I feel great!

 I haven’t weighed myself recently but at about six weeks I still had 10 lbs to lose.

Mind

This is a work in progress.  I am still dealing with anxiety but I’m feeling a lot stronger than I was at month 1.  It’s funny because I expected to be tired and overwhelmed after Coops was born but I really didn’t expect to feel so much anxiety on a daily basis.  Luckily I have some great tools for dealing with this anxiety and my family has been super supportive in helping me!

My mom even visited recently and we had a ton of fun!

    Glad to hear things are going well, especially in terms of your fitness! I’m sure that feels great. 🙂 I’m also glad that you have the tools and support you need to help cope with the anxiety.

    So glad to hear you and little guy are doing well! He is so handsome and I love that smile. You look fantastic! every major life change comes with a little bit of anxiety but it looks like you have an awesome support system so make sure you use them. {Hugs}

    What a wonderful chronicle for all new mothers! Glad to hear you are acclimating – great job! Your pre-pregnancy fitness will return – even the abs!

    Glad you have support from your family – we didn’t have that but we have always had good friends to help when we needed it.

    He is just the cutest, and for 2 months postpartum you are kicking butt. I have to totally agree with you on the anxiety thing. I have always struggled with anxiety, but having a baby took it to a whole new level. I think the fact that I love something with absolutely all of my being, makes even the tiniest thought that something might happen to her cause my anxiety level to go off the charts. Definitely something that is a work in progress. I am so glad you have the support you need to cope!

    Well it sounds like you and the baby are both doing pretty awesome overall! I think I say this every time your mama makes a blog appearance, but seriously, you ladies look SO much alike! 🙂

    he’s adorable! every day will just get better and better as he gets more interactive. wait til the 6-9 month time period. so many new developments every day.

    with my older son, my mom stayed with us for the first 2 weeks and cooked and cleaned so we didn’t have to lift a finger. it was awesome to focus only on the baby.

    with my younger son, she wasn’t able to come down, so my sisters who live in town stepped up on providing us food and then coming over to do our laundry. i did feel a lot more confident with the 2nd baby, and my husband took on almost all responsibilities with the older one.

    i’m at 9 months postpartum and still have a little separation in my abs, but my body feels mostly back to normal. i fell off the workout wagon when i went back to work, so i’m trying to get back into a routine. sounds like you’re off to a good start on your comeback!

    He is so stinking cute!!!!
    I think you’ll be really happy with this next month. I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in both my baby and myself after weeks 9 and 10. She’s 3 months now and sleeping more at night, which in turn makes me feel more like a human again.

    Oh that little face! He is so full of personality already. The anxiety is super common – it gets better, I promise. You’re doing amazingly well getting back to your regular life just 2 months post partum! Go mama!! 🙂
