Hi friends! How was your weekend? Ours was quite relaxing. Friday night the Hubs and I had a date night and we spent the rest of the weekend cruising the park and lounging by the pool. We even got in a game of tennis while the little guy napped.
I think we have a tennis star on our hands. This photo was taken on the multisport court in our condo complex. There are six condos in our complex and the ground floor has shared amenities. Speaking of which, our friends and family have been asking us for awhile what our house looks like here in Brazil. So I thought I would give you a little tour today!
Welcome to the Bendall casa! So happy you are here! We step off the elevator and straight to our front door. We aren’t super fancy, most apartments are like that here.
From the door we take a right and stop at the guest bath.
I love this super cute polka dot Kate Spade candle– Escape the Ordinary.
Then we move on to my office.
I love love love having an office.
I do all my writing here.
The office also doubles as my workout space.
After we leave my office, we head next door to Cooper’s room.
My mom sewed a lot of the blankets and pillows for his room. We went with a nautical theme. I still have some more decorating to do but it is coming along!
From Cooper’s room we head to his bathroom. Lucky fellow gets his own bathroom.
He leaves his ducky out to prove it.
Next we move to the master suite, which starts with our ensuite bathroom.
Then moves into our bedroom. It is pretty simple right now. I want to get some photos up but I haven’t had a chance yet.
My favorite part about the bedroom is the ample storage! Ahh walk-in closet. I definitely didn’t have this much space in NYC.
Now we head back the way we came down the hallway towards the living room.
Our place was mostly furnished when we moved in but I’ve enjoyed adding on some touches like the pillows.
And our coffee table books.
My mom even helped me “reupholster” our ottomans.
From the living room we head over to the dining room.
Care for some breakfast?
I love the big windows in our apartment. I made my own little herb garden!
I’ve also attempted to add a little character to our dining room with our trusty old bar tray.
Next we move to the kitchen!
It’s funny because in the US the kitchen is so often the central focus of the house but in Brazil, it is closed off and meant more for the help than for the family and guests (traditionally).
From the kitchen we move to the laundry room. I left my laundry hanging there to make it authentic. You can see the service exit in the background.
And my all-time favorite part of the house–the pantry! I nearly died when I saw this!
Traditional Brazilian homes have a small room for their maid or nanny to sleep in, but since that is less common these days, our room was turned into a giant pantry. So happy!
Now let’s head downstairs to see what the rest of the complex looks like. We started out on the sport court, which has tennis, basketball, soccer and any other type of sport activity.
There is also a running track but before you get all excited, it is very very short! It’s better for a circuit workout.
There is a playground for the little ones to play (there is also an indoor playroom).
Coops likes to just hang out around the complex.
And of course, a pool!
And the baby pool.
Thanks for visiting! Head down the stairs and you’ll find your way out to the street. See ya soon!
Readers, what is your favorite part of your house? Have you ever lived somewhere where live-in help was common? Soccer, basketball or tennis?

May 25, 2015Such a cute place you have!! Love how Cooper was a baby model showing off his room. I absolutely love my walk-in closet and couldn’t be very comfy in a place without one. Even when we lived in a small apartment, a walk-in was one of my must-haves! Haha. My favorite part of my house now is either my backyard or my kitchen/dining room area because it’s really nice and open, and has a wine/Mediterranean theme with canvas prints of pictures I’ve taken in vineyards and while traveling in Europe. Oh, and there’s also my giant wall of pretty wine glasses… It’s a lot of fun! 🙂

May 26, 2015WOW! What a decorating eye–Love your pops of color and the patterns you have mixed–from the decorator cushions to the ottoman with that cool, navy-wavy pattern. Your tea pot is an understated invitation to relax and chat (or blog)! The favorite place in my house for most everyone, including me, is my kitchen-porch-4 season room area!

September 11, 2015Hi Brittany,
I just discovered your blog while researching barre classes in NYC (you had a great post about it) & what I find is that your life seems parallel to mine! I’m also a young lawyer in NYC and I’m supposed to be moving to Sao Paulo early next year with my fiance (who is Brazilian)……. but I am freaking out! Are you happy there? Do you wish you guys had stayed in NY? Help! What about your career?
Thanks 😉
