Hey friends! How was your weekend? Our was glorious! Filled with sunshine, sand, surf and some good food. The little guy had a ton of fun! Fun fact, my mom and I totally thought that yesterday was Father’s Day. We celebrated all day until my brother was like…um, it’s next weekend. Riiiight. Happy early Father’s Day Dad & Pete!
Have you ever felt like life is just running from one thing to the next and you barely have a chance to sit down (or get up if you sit all day). It’s those kinds of days that leave you craving some downtime to just sit and relax. Well, after running around like a crazy person trying to get my business going, get us packed to travel, travel and, oh yeah, take care of my very active six month old, I was ready for a nice relaxing day. So when we landed in Napa, I promptly booked myself for a treatment at the Villagio Inn Spa.
I walked in and immediately felt calm. I headed into the ladies locker room and found my way to the sauna. I love the dry heat in the sauna, something about it just makes me feel so relaxed. The best part was afterwards there were cucumber soaked towels in ice to cool off with. And of course, dry heat is no good without wet heat, so I had to head to the steam room next. The room smelled of this wonderful essential oil and it was completely empty. I hate it when these types of places are filled with a ton of gabby women. Go get a cocktail and leave the rest of us to relax in silence!
Afterwards I headed outside to test out the whirlpool area. Oh my gosh, it was so pretty. It was such a beautiful day and the lounge chairs were so comfortable I could have stayed there all day but I figured I should be on time for my appointment so I headed inside to wait for my therapist.
I chose the aromatherapy massage and was pleasantly surprised to find out it started with a warm foot bath set to soothing music while I tested out the different aromatherapy fragrances to be used in the treatment. Although there were a few interesting ones, I’m boring and went with plain lavender. I use lavender body wash and I just love the smell.
I would love to get away for a spa day on a regular basis, but let’s face it, it is more of a special occasion type activity. So here are a few tips for recreating that spa experience at home:
Readers, are you a fan of spas? Talking or no talking in steam rooms? How do you relax at home?

June 17, 2015Most definitely. I think there should be a mandatory spa day for all moms!

June 15, 2015Sounds amazing! And I’m totally with you on the chatty women. I need peace and quiet, not gossiping women in my ear 🙂

June 15, 2015I love spas! I try to go get a deep tissue massage every few months since I workout so much, but it’s usually more of a straight up establishment rather than a nice luxe spa kind of place like this one. Sounds like you had a relaxing time! 🙂

June 16, 2015Oh that looks amazing!!! I’m facing a few days alone with the kids and I just want to escape there right now! I’m also laughing that you and your mom were celebrating Father’s Day on the wrong day!!! 🙂

June 17, 2015Yep-it was Flag Day last Sunday so close enough. I love my at home facials; yet, there is nothing like a good pampering at a spa–looks like you had quite the pampering. Nice.
