Throwback Thursday: Post-Baby Bucket List

Hi all!  Happy almost weekend!  Hope you have something fun planned.

Welcome to Throwback Thursday!  If you are here for the first time, this is when I dig out an oldie but a goodie to re-share with you all.  And if you are linking up (thank you!), please scroll to the end of the post.

So for this week’s throwback I chose one that isn’t all that old…My Post Baby Bucket List.  I originally posted this in December 2014 when Cooper was less than one month old (whaaaat? I can’t even remember!).  Even though this post isn’t that old, I thought it would be fun to bring back because I wanted to see where I am on my bucket list a mere six months later.  So read on and feel free to swoon over my adorable newborn because that is what I’m doing right now!
Hey friends!  I know technically you are only pregnant for 40 weeks (which is really ten months, not nine FYI) and it seemed to fly by for me, but at the same time I feel like I was pregnant for the entirety of 2014. While I obviously wouldn’t change a thing, I certainly had to put some goals on the back burner this year and adjust my focus regarding health and wellness.  Well, now that the baby is finally here, I’m excited to start thinking of my goals again.  Usually we all set resolutions and goals in the New Year but this year I wanted to start thinking about the things I want to achieve before the New Year because then I feel like I don’t have to accomplish everything in one year.  So here’s my Post-Baby Bucket List!

1.)  Get back in shape.  This one is kind of a gimme since 1.) there is no way I’m going to let myself stay out of shape and 2.) I am not really out of shape so much as just rebuilding up my strength.  I have a few ideas on how I’m going to get back into fitness, which I’ll be sharing on the blog soon!

Yay!  I’ve achieved this one!  It didn’t take as long as I thought it would to be back at the old workout routine.  I’m starting to feel stronger than ever!  Also, can we talk about how big I was in that photo…actually let’s not.

2.)  Learn another language.  This was one of my 30 Under 30 goals and it is still something I want to work on.  Even though it is not a fitness goal, I learned recently from Nicole that health has a huge impact on your brain so I figure that this counts.  I’ll let you know how it goes!

I feel like I cheated with this one since I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in Brazil this year but I am happy to say I’m definitely on my way to being not too terrible at Portuguese.

3.)  Try Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga.  I love SUP but I really want to try yoga SUP.  It’s something I’ve been eyeing for awhile and I think it would be so so fun so I’m trying to figure out how to make this happen!

This photo was taken in the Florida Keys.  The hubs surprised me for my 30th bday with a weekend getaway!

Soon!  This one is getting checked off my list this summer!

4.)  Improve my tennis game.  I am a huge tennis fan and actually played all the way until I was 32 weeks pregnant.  I really want to continue to improve and get better so I can really play a game with other people that are not my husband.

So this one still needs some work.  I have definitely been back playing tennis but I haven’t really had a chance to hone my skills.  It’s not a forgotten goal though because we may be joining a club, which will hopefully help out!  Also, re-reading this, I totally sound like I don’t want to play tennis with the Hubs.  I do!  I just am too embarrassed to play with most other people!

5.)  Take a fitness vacation. I really really really want to go on a cycling tour of Italy.  There is one tour in particular that I’m eyeing.  Of course the logistics of doing this with a baby is really tough so this one may not happen right away but I don’t want to remove it from the list.  It’s always good to have goals!  Moms, any tips for traveling with baby?

Whomp whomp.  I actually found a second fitness vacation that I really want to go on.  I mean, who doesn’t want to go on a fitness vacation?!?  Ok, probably a lot of people but I would love to!  I did get in some fun cycling with the Hubs in Napa.

6.)  Start teaching again.  I think I’ve mentioned in the past that I used to teach group fitness classes but I don’t anymore.  Once I started law school I didn’t feel like I could really commit the time anymore.  And since I have so much more free time lately (note the extreme sarcasm in my voice), I thought I would try it now.  Seriously though, you know from my videos that I love teaching and helping people and I really want to get back into this.  I’m a certified Zumba instructor and I love barre given my 20 plus years of ballet training so I’m thinking either of those two!

(Sidenote- This photo is enough to get me motivated for number 1 above!)

Yay! Done and done!  I’m so excited to be teaching pilates (which I actually really love!) and I’ve started my own barre class.  So excited!

7.)  Master a new yoga pose.  Now that I’m ditching the prenatal yoga for regular classes, I want to start building back my yoga strength and getting back to a regular practice.  I used to go once a week during my lunch break and it was really great.  I stopped going once I hit my second trimester and switched to prenatal classes.  I want to start rebuilding my strength and I would love to tackle a new pose.  I’m thinking a forearm stand or a side arm balance like this sage visamitra pose.

Work-in-progress.  I actually did a class where the pinnacle of the class was the second pose– visvamitrasana.  It wasn’t as hard as it looks but it is still pretty challenging.  I’ve also been participating in several yoga challenges on Instagram (can we be friends?) that have really required be to up my game and try some new poses.

8.)  Achieve some bloggy goals.  I have a few blog goals that I would love to achieve.  I don’t really want to get into specifics yet but I really want to make them happen so I’m going to try and make a plan to make it happen.  Of course you guys will be the first ones to know!

I think this is kind of intwined with some of my fitness goals.  I have a looooong list and not enough hours in the day but I’m working like crazy.  Of course, one huge goal was Balance Barre!

Readers, do you have any fitness or life goals you want to achieve?  Any suggestions for other things I can add to this list?  Any tips on either of those yoga poses?

You know I love this link up! 🙂 I am so impressed not only with how ambitious your bucket list was but also how much you’ve accomplished!! And I don’t think it’s cheating at all that you’re learning Portugese because you’re living in Brazil!

Oh I love this one! You are doing amazingly well with your goals, considering all that you have done and all the changes you have gone though this past year!
And, you are NOT even close to big in that pregnant photo – OMG, you are adorable.

So glad I just stumbled upon your blog! I’m not pre or post baby, but I have the same goal of tackling a new yoga pose this summer 🙂

Great job on all your goals! It’s always so motivating to write them out….maybe I should try that lol. And I so wish I could take a barre class from you, I’m sure you are a fantastic instructor! 🙂
