Barry’s Bootcamp Inspired Workout

Hi friends!  How was your weekend?  Mine was pretty amazing.  I spent some time in Boston on Friday, hung out with a friend and her kids at the pool on Saturday, met up with my brother and his wife for some kayaking and paddleboarding Saturday afternoon followed by a great dinner and relaxed on Sunday with some SUP yoga, outdoor yoga and some beach time!  This is what summer weekends are made of!


I mentioned recently that I finally made it to Barry’s Bootcamp for the first time and although I was nervous, I found out that it is a really encouraging place with a great atmosphere.  While I’d love to be able to go there regularly, it just is too far for me to make it a weekly thing, so I decided to see if I could recreate a Barry’s style workout at home for myself.  While I certainly can’t emulate the lighting and atmosphere, I can at least find some good music and get in a great workout inspired by this uber popular bootcamp class!

Remember, before starting this or any other workout, please check with your physician.  Also, make sure to warm-up, cooldown and stretch and only go to your limits.  I used 8-10lb weights for this workout.  The Floor work should repeated 1x to make it a 10 minute interval.

    I’ll take the floor most of the time and I like the treadmill a lot but in the winter!

    I’ve never taken an actual in-person “class” that was bootcamp style, but I have done several at home via DVDs. They always kick my butt, but I work harder during those types of workouts than anything else!

    I’d like to say treadmill but I should probably pick the floor since I need the most help with strength/cross training. I haven’t taken a bootcamp class is a while, but try to incorporate a plyo DVD or some circuits into my workouts each week. I spent the weekend relaxing on the beach and catching up on some much needed me time : )

    I prefer the floor bc no matter what I get bored on the treadmill! That class sounds awesome though, I bet it would kick my butt!
