Hey Friends! It’s official! I am on vacation. I’ve been working super hard this summer with my barre studio and teaching pilates and launching my online classes so this is a much needed break! The Hubs has a week off to so we are living it up Cape Cod Style.
The weekend started with some time at the beach with the little guy. He just absolutely loves the water and was hamming it up for us! We walked to the beach so we also got in a bit of exercise with a good two mile walk.
Which was perfect because we definitely indulged with some delicious burgers and champers!
Saturday started off nice and slow with brunch prepared by yours truly.
After some exercise and a nap, we all headed to the beach.
It was truly one of the best beach days all summer and we enjoyed lounging around and of course going in the water.
We took Cooper on the inner tubes with us. Pete was in one and I was in the other and I held Cooper on my lap as we floated partially out to sea. Luckily Pete locked onto us so we wouldn’t float away. Cooper loved it until he realized there was water in close proximity and naturally he wanted to touch it. So then he tried to climb out of my lap to touch the water. To avoid baby overboard I distracted him with the fact that there was water pooling in my lap, which made him excited and he started kicking his legs, which meant my tummy became quite the punching bag!
The Hubs and I even managed to get in some paddleboarding!
After the beach we snuck out and got some ice cream: Moosetracks for the Hubs and Coffee Cookie Dough for me. I even let the little man try a bite. He ate it but wasn’t overwhelmed by it. More for me!
On Saturday night I made a Mexican Fiesta Feast. We haven’t had homemade Mexican in so long so I made homemade guacamole with chips, spiced chicken and steak for tacos, refried beans, pico de gallo, sliced habaneros (hot hot hot) and some Greek yogurt as a sub for sour cream. And of course some margaritas.
Sunday meant family day so my cousins, aunt and brother all came over for lunch. We ended up just relaxing on the porch and being totally lazy until my mom suggested some ladderball. Unfortunately my team lost both games but we will chaulk that up to luck and not lack of skill.
Sunday end ended with a tennis date and some homemade pizza. The perfect end to the perfect weekend!
Readers, what did you do this weekend? If you were dropped off on an island for a weekend what would you bring with you (not stranded, we’re civilized here)? Favorite ice cream flavor?
It certainly does sound like a GREAT weekend! Enjoy your time off with your boys!!! I can’t even deal with how cute Cooper looks in that straw hat 🙂 I just posted about my vacation time last week – got to love summer vacation!
