Hello hello! So I’m a little late to the party with the whole weekend recap, it being Thursday and all but better late than never, am I right? This past weekend the Hubs and the Little Guy and I all hopped into our car and drove the 4 easy hours to Ilhabela. Well, it actually took more like 5 hours because of the 90 minute wait for the ferry. See Ilhabela in Portuguese means beautiful island and since it is an island, the only way to get there is by ferry. Luckily the ferry dropped us off onto what truly was a beautiful island!
Our hotel, Barra do Piuva, was nestled in a hillside overlooking the ocean. It was truly gorgeous and it had this view of this cute little island where there were apparently a bunch of shipwrecks.
I paddleboarded out to the island to get a closer look and there were tons of people snorkeling and scuba diving.
Despite the forecast calling for overcast skies and rain, we ended up having a perfect weekend with beautiful weather. The water was so warm so we hardly spent any time in the pool at the hotel.
There were so many fun options on island including SUP, sailing, kayaking and much much more. Normally Pete and I would be scrambling to fit it all in but with a baby in tow, these things just don’t happen anymore. Taking turns on the SUP was the only activity we got in!
But luckily the little guy was more than happy to let us take in the views, go for a dip in the water and go out to some relaxing dinners.
The island itself is not very big and the towns were so quaint and cute. I wish I had photos of them but we were really only driving through so I couldn’t get good shots. But it reminded me of being on a Caribbean island with all the little towns and the trees and flowers.
this is such a beautiful little island to retreat to for a getaway! you look amazing, your baby is beyond adorable, and your family is just precious. i had a half relaxing, half super active weekend — i ran a marathon on Sunday! — but the rest of it was spent relaxing with family & the boyfriend. 🙂
