Holiday Gift Guide for Fitness Lovers

This holiday gift guide for fitness lovers is sure to satisfy all the fitness lovers on your list this year. From spinning to barre to yoga, there is a fitness gift for everyone!

Hello hello!  So I took Cooper to see Santa the other day.  I wasn’t brave enough last year to head out into the cold to Macy’s in Herald Square to stand in a loooong line to meet Santa.  Despite Nellie’s post on how you could make a reservation, I wasn’t able to work it out and I figured a one month old wouldn’t be that excited anyway.  Well, on a balmy 78 degree day, Coops and I headed to the mall to wait…for noone!?  There was no line and the photo was free!

In typical small child fashion, Cooper started crying the second I handed him to Santa.  Then Santa insisted that I sit down next to him so the three of us got in the photo together.  Cooper stopped crying although he didn’t look too happy.  So now I have his first photo with Santa but it is kind of awkward because Pete isn’t in it!

Anyway, enough with the Santa saga.  Today’s topic is gifts!  Have a fitness loving friend or relative?  I’ve got you covered in the gift department!  I’ve personally curated these gift guides to satisfy the fitness lover no matter their passion.  Enjoy!

Holiday Gift Guide for the Flywheel Girl

(from top to bottom and left to right)

  1.  Spin bike.  This is a big ticket item for that really special person in your life.  Why not let the spin lover go for it at home?  Honestly, it only costs about the same as a month and a half membership at some of those boutique cycling studios!
  2. Cycling shoes.  Sure, it is possible to pick up a pair of rentals at your local studio but consider investing in a pair for your cycling lady.  Clipping in offers a more intense workout because you can work to pull up and push down, which is much harder to do on flat pedals.  The spinner in your life will love you for it!
  3. Les Mills OnDemand subscription.  I love this idea because Les Mills posts their signature RPM class online!  Their classes are super high quality and the videos posted online are the same videos that instructors use to learn how to teach the live classes.  Right now, Les Mills is offering a one year subscription for $99.  Not a bad price considering cycling classes can run up to $30 per class!  Plus the music is actually really great.
  4.  Momentum jewelry.  I love Momentum jewelry so much because they have these fantastic motivational sayings to help push you through even your toughest workouts (and we all know spin is NOT easy!).  They are sweat appropriate and since they sit on your wrist, it is perfect for the rider who is constantly looking at their hands on the handlebars.
  5. Polar Heart Rate Monitor.  I actually own this exact product and I love it.  I think the calorie counter is pretty accurate and I love being able to check my heart rate.  I find it especially useful in spin classes when my heart rate gets really really high.  I can gauge if I need to pull back a little or push a little harder.  And, of course, it is nice to know how much longer you have in your workout!
  6.  Athleta Chi Tank in Colorburst.  I love this tank because it is so colorful and cool looking!  It is made with Athleta’s unstinkable technology, which is good because I always leave spin class really stinky!  It is semi-fitted and has a UPF of 30 (great for outdoor rides!) and it was specifically made for studio workouts.

Holiday Gifts for the Barre Addict

You know that I couldn’t create a gift guide without including my beloved barre class!

  1. Online Barre Subscription to Balance Barre Fitness.  Sorry guys, it is a shameless plug!  But I truly believe in my product and I love love love teaching.  So treat your barre bestie to online live streaming classes AND streaming videos for only $9.99 a month!  Get a gift card here!
  2. Home barre.  I used a kitchen chair for years to simulate a ballet barre and then I finally bit the bullet and bought an actual barre.  I was so happy I did!  Give that special someone in your life a little extra loving with these amazing barre (I own it!) and leave the kitchen chairs in the kitchen.  Good news is that it is super easy to put together and take apart!
  3. Reebok True Studio Dance Shoe.  I love these dance shoes because they are such a pretty cloud pattern!  But for the less adventurous, they also come in black.  The soles have grips on them that will help the barre babe in your life keep traction on the floor during those tough pulses.  Seriously, for years I just wore socks to barre class and when I finally switched to grips, it was life changing!  This shoe even has antimicrobial sockliner for odor protection.  Nothing says Happy Holidays like anti-stink!
  4. Splits 59 Grace Performance Support Tank.  I love the look of this tank because the blocking and vertical lines are super flattering and help give you that long ballerina-esque look that we all get so excited about in barre class.  Plus it is fitted with a shelf bra (a must for me!) and has moisture-wicking technology.  And I think the color is neat!
  5. Playground ball.  This one may seem a bit odd but if you asked me for the one tool I use the most in my at-home barre workouts, I would tell you it is a playground ball.  This thing is the absolute best for working the inner thighs, arms, abs and even assisting in cardio.  It is a must have!  Bonus points if you inflate it for your receivee!
  6. Leg warmers.  Leg warmers may be so 80s but I’m bringing ’em back.  Seriously, I looked so cool as a 3 year old doing Jane Fonda with my leg warmers!  Working on finding that photo for you all now… These Sweaty Betty chaines leg warmers are just retro enough to be cool!  Plus they do actually keep your legs warm!

Holiday Gift Guide for the Dance Diva

  1. Asics Gel Noosa Tri-9.  I love these shoes because they are so colorful and fun.  What part of them doesn’t make you want to get up and dance?  Plus, they probably match everything in your wardrobe!
  2. AKT in Motion Happy Hour dvd.  I love AKT in Motion in NYC and now everyone can experience it at home.  Anna Kaiser’s hot workout that combines dance cardio with strength is a favorite among celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kelly Ripa.  Do I really need to say more?
  3. Disco ball!  What’s a dance party without a little mood lighting?  Seriously, some of my favorite dance cardio workouts move beyond just music and moves but create an atmosphere that makes you feel more like you are at a dance club than a fitness club.  A disco ball is a fun way to shake it up for home workouts!
  4. Connection dance capri.  These are hot because they have a nice slouchy look to them without being too baggy.  Plus the capri is a nice touch.  I like that they give you room to move but are still flattering.
  5. Beats Studio Wireless headphones.  A cool pair of headphones to wear while listening to tunes for the next dance session.  I love the color.
  6. Contemporary Cropped tee.  This cropped top can be worn alone or layered over a cute fitted tank.  It’s cool without being obnoxious.  I like the statement it makes.

Gift Guide for the Adventure Junkie

  1. Adventure travel with REI.  The adventure junkie will like nothing more this holiday season than a trip to stretch the legs.  Everything from hiking in Nepal to snorkeling in Belize to zip lining in Costa Rica is offered on one of these amazing active trips.  Don’t worry if you don’t have a few thousand to spare, there are gift cards available and some trips are even right in your own backyard!
  2. Snack box subscription with Naturebox.  Every good adventure junkie needs a snack to fuel her through her travels.  I love Naturebox’s nutritionist approved snacks.  They are tasty, healthy, delicious and portion controlled!
  3. GoPro.  I seriously love my GoPro because it has captured some of the coolest things like snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, a turtle in Puerto Rico and kayaking in Greece.  This camera is definitely worth its weight (or dinheiro for that matter).  Any good adventurer needs one of these!
  4. Stand Up Paddle.  Sure, it’s winter, but there is no harm in getting ready for next summer!  Your adrenaline junkie will love this SUP board because there are so many options to explore the water on it (don’t forget a mount for her GoPro!).
  5. Garmin Vivofit,  This one could easily fit into any of the gift guides here but I put down for this person because with someone as active as this, who has time to focus on what you’ve been doing?  The stats are all right there for them with this activity tracker!
  6. Lightweight Polartec NeoShell Jacket–  The perfect lightweight jacket for hiking and it is waterproof!

Holiday Gift Guide for the pilates mat queen

  1. Sparkly Soul headband.  Look stylish on and off the mat with this sparkly headband.  It is the perfect festive gift and is a great stocking stuffer!  It comes in a variety of sparkly colors and widths but I love this multicolor one.  It is the only headband that never slips off my head!
  2. Sticky Be Socks.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  I love these socks.  I don’t like to pledge allegiance to one studio so a studio-neutral sock is essential for me.  I love the variety of colors and the sayings are so cool!  Be kind.  Be strong.  Be calm.
  3. At-Home Pilates Reformer.  I like this for the pilates queen because reformer classes are expensive and so are reformer machines!  But this smaller version of the big thing takes up less room and is still incredibly effective.  This one comes with three pilates DVDs including one featuring pilates guru, Kristin McGee!
  4. Alo Yoga Leggings.  These leggings are seriously so cute!  I love the two-tone effect and the patterns are super unique.  They come in a variety of colors so they are perfect for anyone!
  5. Pilates Magic Circle.  The magic circle is a staple in traditional pilates but it is an extremely effective tool and perfect for the home pilates workout.  It isn’t expensive and doesn’t require much room for storage.
  6. Pilates mat.  I own this exact mat and it is amazing!  Most people bring yoga mats to a pilates class only to find that they are woefully inadequate for the moves done in pilates because they don’t offer enough cushioning.  Unlike yoga, which requires a thin grippy mat for balance and flow, a pilates mat helps cushion your boney bits that can be imprinted on the floor during a class.  This is a must have!

Holiday Gift Guide for the Lady Who Lifts

  1. Barbell set.  This looks huge but it actually breaks down pretty easy and is a great addition to any home gym!
  2. Nike leggings.  How awesome are these?  I love the cool pattern and so will your giftee as they leave everyone else in the dust.
  3. Reebok CrossFit sneakers.  I have a pair of CrossFit Nanos by Reebok and I love them.  They are perfect for lifting weights in CrossFit or BodyPump because they provide a flat platform unlike running sneakers.
  4. Lifting gloves.  Nothing is unsexier than ripped up hands!  Protect those mitts with these lifting gloves.  Also helps maintain a better grip on the bar/kettlebell/ropes.
  5. Swell waterbottle.  I have this water bottle and absolutely love it!  Don’t worry it comes in a ton of other colors besides pink but isn’t the pink just motivation in a bottle?  The best part about this waterbottle is that it is insulated and keeps your water nice and cold even on a hot hot hot day!

Holiday Gift Guide for the Yogi

  1. Manduka yoga mat.  If you are looking for the Rolls Royce of yoga mats, you’ve found it with Manduka.  They have high quality grip mats that will withstand the test of time.  It comes in a range of colors too!
  2. Online yoga subscription to MyYogaWorks.  I love MyYogaWorks!  I think it is the best at-home yoga subscription service.  It has a ton of classes in a huge range of styles.  Plus, until December 31st they are offering 50% off gift subscriptions.  Are you still here?  Go get this!
  3. Skidless mat from Yogitoes.  Full disclosure, I own this!  I love it.  It is the perfect skidless mat for your sweaty yogi practitioner whether it be in a hot class or they just work really really hard!  It comes in a variety of colors and patterns but I love this oceana print.
  4. Alo Yoga Vapor tank.  I think the back of this tank is so pretty.  It is definitely a tank you could wear from class to brunch.
  5. Yoga mat bag from Lululemon.  I think This is one of the prettiest yoga mat bags I’ve ever seen plus it has compartments for water keys, etc!

Wow Britt, this is such a comprehensive holiday gift guide with so many options. Great job!

I bought a Polar watch a couple of years back and it just stopped working recently, so I’m anxiously awaiting my new Polar that is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Working out without it feels like something is missing!

Love the Santa pic… He looks like a pretty good Santa! Though he doesn’t look thrilled, at least Cooper isn’t bawling in the pic! 🙂

I figured it was a win that he wasn’t totally crying in the photo!

I totally know what you mean, when I don’t have my watch on, I keep looking at my bare wrist!
