Friday’s Food & Fitness: Summer Cocktails!

A hot day and a cool drink–these summer cocktails will make you want summer to last well into the fall.

Hello and happy Friday!  What a week.  I feel like we have been running around at full speed but it has been so worth it.  We’ve been doing so many fun things this summer and I think Cooper has really enjoyed it!  This happened this week:

His first cooking experience!  We made rice crispy treats and although I can’t say much of them got eaten (not because they weren’t good, just no one was in the mood for rice crispies!), he did a great job stirring the butter and marshmallows and pouring in the treats.  Although, I think part of his interest stemmed from the fact that he was able to keep eating the treats!

What better way to end a hot summer day than a nice cool summer drink enjoyed in the last rays of the sun?  I’ve got two awesome summer drink recipes for you!

This white wine sangria recipe is to die for!  You won’t even realize you are drinking wine, which can be a good thing or a bad thing.  It is a simple recipe and it tastes refreshing and sweet without tasting like a dessert.

White Wine Sangria

Another perfect cocktail for a hot summer day is a wine slushy!  It is a distinctly grown-up version of a slushy and doesn’t have the artificial stuff in it!  Plus, it is pretty easy to make.  I suggest making this recipe now so it will be ready to go on the weekend!

Wine Slushies

This one is too easy.  Just take a bottle of sauvignon blanc (or another white wine if you prefer) and divide it into smaller tupperware containers.  Place the containers in the freezer and allow to freeze.  Mash up some fruit, such as blueberries, strawberries, peaches or nectarines and place in other tupperware containers and allow to freeze.  Once fruit and wine are frozen, place in a blender and blend until smooth.  Grab a straw and enjoy!

This past week I headed into Boston to catch the Red Sox game (we lost-whomp whomp), but I decided to go in a bit early to catch one of my favorite classes.

Before the game I headed to btone in Back Bay to take a megaformer class.  I’m a huge fan of megaformer classes and I love how challenging they are.  btone definitely gets it right with a great class set up, inspiring music and tough instructors.

If you want to strengthen your core, I highly recommend trying this megaformer class.  It is super challenging!

Last Balance Barre class for the summer!  So sad but it was such a great summer and I am so proud of everyone for their amazing efforts!  Until next summer.

    Megaformers are a deep workout which I like a lot. Wish I could do the megaformers more frequently. I need to take it slow & focus completely on the moves. The watermelon & cantaloupe sangria is a nice take-off on the citrus versions. The slushy is for me‼️

    Looks like u spend a very busy week, and I like the way u spend it. Megaformers are a nice and deep workout and I like it very much. I wish I could do it more frequently. and I love sangira, it’s my favorite. Thanks for the post.
