Hello all! Phew! What a week it has been! I’ve been putting the pedal to the metal and it seems as though it is going to remain non-stop from here. How has your week been?
Welcome to Friday’s Food & Fitness!
I can’t say I did a lot of cooking this week except for one really amazing dish but it is under wraps for now! I was so busy that things were grab n’ go style or just easy pasta dishes like my favorite caprese.
We did order some ahhhhmazing sushi though and I thought that was pretty darn delicious and special! I was off sushi for the longest time and I’m so happy to be back on that bandwagon once again!
Our Focus On series has moved on to one of my favorite classes of all times: HIIT the Barre™. It is a combination of HIIT (high intensity interval training) plus barre and it is amazing! Check it out!
What is HIIT the Barre?
HIIT the Barre is a revved up version of a Balance Barre Signature Class. It is a combination of high intensity interval training paired with barre toning moves to help blast fat and sculpt your body. It includes high-impact and jumping movements to help boost your heart rate and burn major calories.
How does a HIIT the Barre class work?
HIIT the Barre starts with a low-impact cardio warm-up that moves at a quick pace. It is then divided into three HIIT Rounds. Round 1 is done in the center with no equipment. Round 2 is done at the barre. Round 3 is done on the mat and focuses on abs and arms. Each round has 3 combos and each combo has 3 moves. The 3rd move in each combo is your high intensity move and the other two are sculpting moves.
Does HIIT the Barre have more cardio than Balance Barre Signature?
While Balance Barre Signature definitely revs your metabolism and burns major calories, HIIT the Barre takes it to the next level by adding in additional cardio moves and jumping moves to really make you sweat. Both classes are great for cardiovascular fitness but HIIT the Barre has a slight edge in the cardio category!
How often should you take this class?
To get the maximum benefit, 1-2 times per week! Check out my HIIT the Barre videos here!
What are three favorite HIIT the Barre moves?

Plank Jump Outs
What are three HIIT the Barre songs on the playlist right now?

October 24, 2016I love the sound of HIIT the Barre! HIIT is one of my favorite types of exercise. It’s been hard since my foot injury because while I’ve recovered, I kind of decided that a lot of plyometric moves aggravate it… but I also want to do HIIT like every day! It’s such an efficient way to workout, so I’ve been trying to do interval training without too much jumping.
