HIIT the Barre: The Workout

Hey friends!  Thank you so much for all your support with the launch of my new e-book, HIIT the Barre™!  I’m super excited about it!  Because you have been such amazing loyal readers for so long, I wanted to give you a special sneak peek of the book!  So today we are talking about HIIT the Barre: The Workout!

So, what exactly is HIIT the Barre™?  To put it simply, it is a combination of cardio plus toning.  I focus on using High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) plus barre moves to get your heart rate up, blast fat and tone your muscles.  It is a total body workout and I’m kind of obsessed!  

The book features a new daily workout that is only 30 minutes in length.  There are three types of workouts: Center (in the center of the room with no equipment, just sneakers), Barre (at your ballet “barre” or a kitchen chair with no shoes) and on the Mat.  Each workout uses just 9 moves– 3 HIIT moves and 6 barre moves.  It is so easy to follow!

Today I’ll give you a little sneak peek of one of the workouts: Awesome Assets!  For this workout you will need a sturdy piece of furniture, such as a kitchen chair, to act as your ballet barre.  You will also need a stopwatch.  Let’s get started!

Before beginning this workout, warm up for 5 minutes to get your heart rate going.  We have a set warm up in the book but for this workout, practice any warm up you like!

You’ll do each of these Moves 3x.  You will do all the Moves in Combo 1 for one minute each and then rest for 15 seconds.  You will then do all the Moves in Combos 2 & 3 for 30 seconds on the right leg and then 30 seconds on the left leg and rest for 15 seconds after you have done both sides.

After you have completed each Combo 3xs, you have completed your workout in just 30 minutes!  Take a few minutes to stretch.  How do you feel?  I hope you felt that you got an amazing workout and are ready for more!
