2017 Wellness Trends

Last year I started with the 2016 Wellness Trends and it was such a huge hit, I figured I would go ahead and continue with the 2017 Wellness Trends.  It is always fun to predict what will be big in the health and wellness industry in the coming year!  So read on and then let me know what you think are the biggest wellness trends in 2017!

Athleisure at Work

So I’m not sure I’m sold on this one yet, but with athleisure being a major trend in 2016, it seems like it needs a place to go.  Enter athleisure for work.  Now, I’m pretty certain most conservative offices are not going to go for this, but if you are the type to bike to work or maybe your work in the tech industry, I could see athleisure pieces being a good workplace vibe.  Or check out my sweatshirt dress, I dressed it up just enough that you might not even think it is “athleisure”.

Hybrid Classes

Hybrid classes are the way to go these days.  Everything from spinning plus yoga to TRX plus pilates, hybrid classes are drawing people back to the gym or studio.  People are always looking for new motivation to help them stick with their fitness plans and hybrids offer the allure of being able to really change things up and keep the routine interesting.  Want to try out a hybrid class for yourself?  Check out my HIIT the BARRE ebook & videos, which combines High Intensity Interval Training with Barre moves.

Wellness Retreats

I’m dying to go on one of these wellness retreats.  An exotic location, unlimited classes, healthy food prepared for you, alone time to relax and reflect, spa treatments…who DOESN’T want to go on one of these retreats.  I’m going to ask for one for my birthday and see how that goes… šŸ˜‰  But seriously, these retreats are becoming more popular than a weekend away full of partying and its good for your mind and body!

Fitness Franchised

Last year boutique fitness studios ruled the scene.  This year they rule through their franchises.  Everywhere we turn there  is a new Soul Cycle or Pure Barre popping up.  Fitness Franchising is a thing and it is full steam ahead!

Health Bars

No not those Power Bars you are thinking of.  I’m talking about going to a bar full of juice and healthy food rather than your average bar full of alcohol.  These health bars are popping up all over the place and giving the wellness crowd a place to meet outside of the traditional bar scene.

Superfoods are Taking Over

We’ve been hearing about superfoods for awhile now but it seems like everyday a new superfood comes out.  I think we’ll see even more new superfoods in 2017.  My advice is not go too crazy.  Pick a few that you like and stick with those!

Rest and Recovery are Big

We all love a tough workout but 2017 is going to bring rest and recovery to the forefront.  Foam rolling, stretching, yoga are all important components of our fitness routines in 2017.

Awesome list! I totally agree with all of them, I am really looking forward to the Hybrid class trend! Since there are so many boutique classes, it’ll be fun to see a fusion of them. Just like your HIIT the barre workout!!

I love the idea of pretty much all of these trends! I’ve definitely noticed that hybrid classes have become more & more popular, and I dig it. I am so into the idea of going to a wellness retreat too!! Did you see that Fit Approach is doing one in Sonoma in March??

Yep, Franchising is a business model that grows itself, grows you and your business, and grows others, too!
