Two words– cardio pilates. Most people think pilates and they think of some strange yoga hybrid where you are lying on the mat and relaxing the whole time. Think again my friends! This class is guaranteed to challenge you and make you sweat!
I saw a funny meme once that said for cardio I just do pilates faster. This is half true with this workout. It goes at a quick pace to really get that cardio pilates feel. If you are new to pilates or need a brush up the basics, it is a good idea to first do a class like Beginner Pilates or Basic Pilates Mat. Once you have completed those classes, you’ll have an understanding of the basic moves so you can jump right into this class.
Cardio Pilates also includes high intensity moves to really rev that heart rate and burn some calories. Think of moves like rolling like a cannonball (rolling like a ball to a standing position with a jump at the end), goddess squat burpees and jogging mountain climbers. These moves are interspersed with classical and contemporary pilates toning moves to help keep you in the cardio zone.
We start with a standing warm up to get the body warm, work the big muscle groups and slowly bring the heart rate up. We then moves down onto the mat for some tough moves like pushups and some classical moves like the Pilates Series of 5. This class doesn’t require any equipment and we use our own bodyweight the entire time.
For anyone who questioned whether Pilates Can Help You Lose Weight, this class for sure answers that question in the affirmative. You will be sweating and working hard for sure!
