This prenatal barre workout is designed to be done either in its entirety for a full-body workout or in segments to focus on one or two areas. The video begins with a low-impact Cardio warm up to get your heart rate going and warm the body. It’s important to maintain your cardiovascular health during pregnancy and this segment will help do that! Just make sure you can ass the talk test meaning that you can carry on a conversation the entire time you are performing the workout.
Next we move on to upper body to tone the arms and maintain good posture. During pregnancy a woman’s body naturally shifts so this segment will help correct changes that can cause pain, especially in the back. This segment uses light weights but it can be done with no weight at all.
Next we move to the barre to focus on the lower body. In this segment we will use a playground ball to target the inner thighs and pelvic floor. If you don’t have a ball, you can use a small pillow. We will also get in a little more low-impact cardio. You can use a chair, countertop or wall to act as your barre.
We then move down onto the mat to do a little more glute work followed by some pregnancy-safe core work. I offer plenty of core options depending on your trimester. Remember, just because you are pregnant doesn’t mean that you should ignore your core!
Finally we end with a nice relaxing stretch! Well deserved mama!
Performing this workout 3-4 times per week during pregnancy will help increase your energy and decrease your likelihood of complications. Working out during pregnancy is so beneficial for mom and baby. This prenatal barre workout is a fantastic way to reap those benefits. This is a must for pregnant mamas!
