My Favorite Things {July}

Reading

My beach read book pick is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. This book set in the 50s-late 60s deep in the North Carolina Marsh enters around Kya a girl who has grown up in her own in the Marsh. She becomes embroiled in a murder scandal of her former lover and local town celebrity Chase Andrews.

I’m only about 50% done with this book but it intriguing! I love that the book follows two timelines that slowly become intertwined. I’m curious to find out The Who, what and why of this murder mystery.

Doing

I recently purchased Kiwi Crate for Cooper. This subscription box is focused on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). It offers subscription kits from 0-teen. To be fair, I tried to get one for Wyatt and they actually didn’t have one available for his age.

So far Cooper and I are loving his crate! I will do another full review once we’ve done a few more crates but the first one is a bit. The theme is rainbow (love!) and it comes with three projects, a parental guide and a children’s “magazine”. We’ve completed the rainbow stained glass art so far and he loved putting it together. Plus it came out super cute!

I love that we can do this together (this kit isn’t really for independent play at this age) and it doesn’t take too long. I also loved that the parental guide came with some interesting facts and information I could share with Coops about stained glass. Not too scientific yet but definitely artistic and fun!

Eating

I love to cook but summer has me wanting a bit of a break. I recently reviewed Nurture Life, the meal delivery service I’ve been using for the kids. It has been a huge help.

As an update, Cooper tried the chicken tacos and while they weren’t a massive hit, they were eaten! He refused the taco so we just ate the filling. I was proud of him for eating the rice and beans mixed with zucchini, squash, red pepper and onion and covered with a southwest sauce and the chicken that also had some southwest flavoring. I think as we do this more and more he will get the hang of it and begin to like it!

For me, I’ve been doing Sakara Life. I’ve got a full review in the works but basically it is a plant based meal delivery service. No cooking!

Watching

Big Little Lies. I loved the book by Liane Morarity (one of my favorite authors) and last season was so so good. This season is just OTT! Meryl Streep- omg. She is so good at being so bad I’m such a passive aggressive yet sometimes outwardly rude kind of way. And the overall cast is just amazing- Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz. Love this strong female drama. Also can I live in Monterey!?!

Drinking

So I’m a vino girl but I recently discovered these wine cooler cans at the liquor store and I’m obsessed. I’ve tried the Flip Flop fizzy rose and it was so great. This is the perfect solution to a hot day at the beach or lunch on a boat (if you have a boat- call me).

I’ve got a few more flip flop cans to try like white sangria and a Cupcake rose. I’m definitely looking forward to some summer cocktails!

What are you loving in July?
