Hello fit followers. July 28, 2012 was the Third Annual National Dance Day. National Dance Day began in 2010 and was created by Nigel Lythgoe, producer of So You Think You Can Dance. It is typically the last Saturday in July and was founded Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton to promote a healthy lifestyle and interest in dance. This year, in partnership with the Dizzy Feet Foundation, there are TWO routines for you to learn in the comfort of your own home! One is a Zumba routine (LOVE IT!) and the other is a hip hop routine. Check out the routines here!
I did my part learning the routines.
I learned both the Zumba routine and the hip hop routine. As a lifelong dancer and a huge fan of So You Think You Can Dance, I am naturally a lover of Dance Day.
Even if you didn’t get a chance to participate in National Dance Day, there is still time to go online and learn the routines!
Additionally, you can go online and find a Zumba class near you to try out a full class or visit your local dance studio if you want to get into hip hop, modern, ballet, whatever!
Or, just turn on some music, push back the coffee table and get your groove on!
