Hello all. I hope you had a nice weekend. While most weekends I am out and about being as active as possible, this weekend I decided to kick back and let someone else work up a sweat for a change. I hit up the 2012 U.S. Open to watch the Men’s Semifinals on what is called “Super Saturday”.
The day started out a bit precarious with a total torrential downpour! Luckily the skies cleared and the match was able to start but not without more challenges from mother nature. It was so windy during the match that an actual chair blew onto the court!! Although it didn’t stop us from enjoying the very very long first match!
My brother Drew was up from Boston for the weekend so at least he got his money’s worth with an epic first match lasting 4 hours!
After watching Andy Murray win the first match, we were all set to see a face off between Ferrer and Djokovic when the match was called for severe weather, including a tornado warning! I had a hard time believing this since it was bright and sunny, but they said it with a straight face and had everyone leave! Sure enough, a short while later thick clouds developed and heavy rain came down!
So, the result was we got to go back to Flushing Meadows for a SECOND DAY of the U.S. Open on Sunday. Woo hoo! No complaints here! As you can see from my cover photo, I love playing a bit of tennis. I’m not great but, hey, its having fun that counts and I’m working on getting better! So if you have any tips, please send them my way 🙂
