What did you do this weekend? The Hubs and I finally ventured over to the High Line on the west side of Manhattan. It’s park that was created on old railroad tracks that ran above street level.
It was quite an enjoyable walk for a Friday evening to watch the sunset!
I have to say, the views were not bad at all!
I also hit up a bachelorette party this weekend with a 1920’s theme. Thanks to everyone who voted for my dress on Instagram. This one won:
Fun times.
So, you didn’t think I was going to leave you hanging with the Seven Day Detox Plan did ya? Heck no!! So as you may have heard from last week’s post, the seven day detox plan became a six day detox plan. I don’t feel bad. In fact, I feel good! Since days 5 and 6 looked really similar in all respects, I’m going to combine them if that’s cool with you.
FOOD
I stuck with my healthy breakfast of Greek yogurt with berries, chia seeds and raw almonds. For lunch on Day 5 I ended up getting a turkey sandwich from Le Pain Quotidien. The piece de resistance for day 5 was really the amazing dinner I made! Remember all those healthy veggies I bought? Well, I picked up some polenta from the grocery store and cooked up a nice batch of it. I sautéed the squash and the eggplant with some olive oil and finished it off with some good quality balsamic vinegar. I then spooned that veggies mixture on top of the polenta, added some fresh tomatoes and basil and some parmesan cheese. I also made a small stack of three heirloom tomato slices with mozzarella, basil and balsamic, which I also had for lunch on Day 6. Holy goodness! Everything was so fresh and delicious!
My water treat for the second half of the week was cucumber and basil infused. Anything to get you to drink more, right!?
WORKOUTS
I did some of the Blogilates DVD and MAN were my abs hurting! I can’t wait to give you guys the full review! I also finished up my Zumba choreo, which was a definite workout. Be on the lookout for that upcoming video.
SKIN
I applied some self-tanning moisturizer to extend my summer glow. My favorite kind is L’Oreal Sublime Bronze. It works the best! I also gave myself a mini at-home facial with these products.
I figure, why spend $100 when I can do it myself!
MIND
Listened to my meditation app before bed and managed to fit in 10 minutes of Athleta’s Morning Yoga with YogaGlo in honor of National Yoga Month.
And that my friends, was the end of the detox!
For the other detox days, see these posts:
Readers, what did you do this weekend? Do you have a favorite park near you? Have you ever been to a 1920’s theme party?

September 23, 2013I love your dress!!! I can’t remember what it was called but I went to a huge 1920s themed party in NYC a few years ago.
Also I love the high line! I used to wake up super early and run it before it got too busy.
FitBritt
September 24, 2013I feel like there are going to be a lot of 20s themed parties popping up because of the Gatsby movie!

September 23, 2013Omg I always wanted to go to the Highline! In fact, it’s one of my top 3 to-dos the next time I visit NYC! I’ll just live vicariously through your pictures. We must meet whenever I decide to book my flight!
PS: You and your husband make such a cute couple. Gorgeous dress. 🙂

FitBritt
September 24, 2013Thanks Melissa! It’s just from Ann Taylor. One of my work dresses. Clearly I don’t adhere to the all black uniform in NYC!
Carla
September 23, 2013What a good weekend. Totally love the dress! I bet the 1920s theme was so fun. Wow! I love how awesome this cleanse was. It seemed like it was more about eating super clean. I bet you did feel great!
FitBritt
September 24, 2013You hit the nail on the head Carla. For me, detoxing is about eating super clean rather than restricting myself from food.
Jillienne @ ChasingRaspberries

September 25, 2013I’ve been to the High Line with my grandparents who live in NY – such an awesome idea! Atlanta has something similar from an old rail line called the Belt Line. Not as cool as what you have but they’re working on it :).
LOVE your 20s outfit!
FitBritt
September 25, 2013Thanks Sara! I’ve actually never been to Atlanta but I’m sure it’s equally as cool!
