Hi friends! Hope you had an enjoyable weekend! If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that I love to be active on the weekends. During the summer you’ll find me biking, playing tennis, SUPing, kayaking and more. I love the fact that when the weather is warm, the possibilities are endless for fun and healthy activities. But around this time of year the days gets shorter, the temperatures get colder and the motivation to get out and do something starts to wane. I hate packing up my bike for the winter and kissing days filled of fun activities behind until next summer. So I made it a priority this weekend to get up and get moving!
We started out with a healthy breakfast of pumpkin oatmeal. I got the recipe from Elise at 9toFit. It was perfectly delicious and filling.
I then headed out for a Zumba master class, which I’ll tell you all about later this week! So fun!
Followed by a healthy seasonal salad from Just Salad (I don’t know why they call it that since they have other things besides salad but anyway . . .).
We then headed to Arthur Ashe Stadium for some tennis. I know I say this pretty much every week but the fact that we found a place we can play inside that doesn’t cost an arm in a leg in the city is amazing! Plus it ‘s nice to be able to do something active together.
After my yoga class on Sunday, the Hubs and I headed to Chelsea Piers for lunch. I ordered a veggie sandwich with pesto mayo and said no thank you to the fries (that was the ultimate display of willpower for me!).
After lunch we headed to the driving range at Chelsea Piers to hit a few balls. Even though it was rainy and gross outside, we were still able to hit 100+ balls from the upper level of the driving range. The stalls are outdoors but covered so we stayed perfectly dry while driving balls into the eery mist over the Hudson River.
I finished the weekend the way it started with a little Just Dance 2014 and Zumba Core (affiliate link) on the Wii! It’s hard to believe that I burned 130 calories in just 20 minutes, it’s so much fun!
Readers, how do you stay healthy on the weekends when you can’t get outside? Do you workout with your spouse/partner/friends? Have you tried Zumba Core for the Wii?
You are actually the cutest in your tennis outfit!!! My bf and I loved golfing at Chelsea Piers. One of the few activities we do together. He loves to swim but I have water aversion and there’s a 0% chance I could ever get him to run!
I had that oatmeal both days this weekend! I’m addicted. Also I’m so with you on getting outside while the weather this still decent. We got outside with my niece yesterday and did some yoga poses (it’ll be in tomorrows post!)
It’s so great that you and the hubby can be active together. I generally work out solo most days. I hated it at first, but now I use it as my time to clear my head.
You are so good for saying no to the fries!! I love Chelsea Piers it is one of my favorite places! I have zumba for kinect it is so real 🙂 Can’t wait to hear about the master class–I’ve been meaning to go to a jammer session, thanks for the reminder.
Looks like a lot of fun active weekend activities! I like to move a lot on the weekends too. During the week I’m all about hitting up the gym for exercise, and then on the weekend I switch gears and like to workout with my hubby outside and practice yoga at home. Even though it’s getting nippier here, it’s still in the low-60s, so last weekend we went hiking with my dog – my favorite outdoor workout!
So much fun to be had! This is great – especially the tennis and golf. Also, I’m so excited to tell you that I tried Just Dance this past weekend for the first time!! I LOVED it!! A few friends came over and the hubs and I did it with them and had some dance-offs – it was GREAT! I didn’t take one single picture or video but I’ll definitely be doing it again and I’ll have to document it so I can talk about it in an upcoming post. Thanks for brining it to my world – I love it!!
Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I’m so impressed you passed on the fries too. I know it takes a lot of willpower to do that! That driving range looks like such a cool place to go. My weekend consisted of cleaning and de-junking my house. It was “fun.” I also got a good workout in though, so I was happy ’bout that. 😉
I’m not a golf or tennis girl but I do like to try to stay active on the weekends. Normally it means a run or a yoga class. I’m considering getting a bicycle so the whole family can ride together very soon though!
Looks like you had a great time! I am blessed to live in a place that is beautiful all the time. On the weekends I like yoga Sunday mornings and hiking in the mountains if I can fit it in 🙂
I cannot believe all these physical activities you’ve named in one weekend. You know I’m the exact opposite. I go hard all week and take the weekend off…of course, that’s 99.999999% because I get my hair done on Fridays & want it to look fly all wkd 🙂
During the winter weekends I get to the gym on Saturdays but other than that I take it pretty easy. If you lived close I’d make you my best friend so you would motivate me to be more weekend active 😉

November 18, 2013This past weekend I took a couple of walks, did Pilates and found golf balls on the course — but did not hit them first!

November 19, 2013You have got to be one of the most active people I know! I love that you find ways to have fun while you’re doing it too.
I try to get Brandon to work out with me but it’s usually a pain in the arse. He will go hiking though so I try to do as much of that as possible!
FitBritt
November 20, 2013Thanks Sarah! Hiking is a good couple activity because it’s basically just walking somewhere beautiful and only secretly is it exercise!
