The Year My Blog Broke

You guys…I can’t even.  This is the year that every problem you could have with your blog has happened to me.  I even deleted this post by accident!

Basically I had all these problems with malware on domain.com and decided it was time to switch hosts.  I paid someone to transfer my website to Bluehost.  For some reason, several months later I learned that my domain name was expiring and I had to switch the domain name over to Bluehost.  I still don’t understand exactly what happened but I proceeded to switch my domain name over and in the process overwrote my entire blog erasing all posts from March 3rd onwards.

I’m so upset.  I can’t believe that all those posts are gone.  If, for some reason, you are a superfan and have a copy of all my posts, please contact me.

But, it isn’t the end of the world and I will move on and continue to post.  And I’m going to make sure I backup.  I have BackupBuddy but for some reason I always get an error.  Nothing can be easy, am I right?

Ugggh – blog problems! At least it didn’t take everything! I’m a super fan – but apparently I need to start copying and pasting more. 😉

The sad part is that I have backup buddy plugin but I kept getting errors so I never had my database backed up. I just did it and it worked though so I think jetpack might have been causing me issues. TMI. Sorry!

    Hi sweetheart

I follow your blogs and may have the blogs you lost. Keep them because I enjoy seeing my great grand
son. They are available if your blogger friends do not come thru with them.

    Love Grammie

Oh, no – sorry about all those lost post!!
Last June I went through a similar time – it was so frustrating. I even hired a local computer tech to help and he made it 10x worse.

I hired someone too and that is where everything went wrong! Ugh! Sometimes it is better to just try and figure it out yourself!

this is crazy!! I can’t believe you have had so much trouble with your blog. With all the blood sweat and tears you put into it I know it is unbelievably frustrating. I don’t have a full proof system for backing up BUT seeing your grammies comment made me remember that I subscribed to myself via email when I started blogging 4 years ago so if I absolutely had to I could go through and repost every post email by email. I need to do that for my friends too!

Nellie it has been quite a frustrating blog year. I got my backup buddy plugin to work so now at least I can backup my database and I know how to import it to my cpanel now! Live and learn.

Thanks Lisa! I don’t think I will but at the end of the day it is not the worst thing in the world. I just wish my mind/body after baby posts didn’t get deleted!

Ahhh, I’m so sorry to hear this! That majorly sucks. On a positive note, your grammie’s comment warmed my heart 🙂

You’re freaking me out a little because I have no idea if I have site backup!! I think that I did pay the couple extra $ through Bluehost to get that but I’m not totally sure…

Oh, I’m so so sorry! That is terrible! I’ve had a few issues with my blog over the years and it’s always so stressful. I’m so sorry you lost so many of your posts, especially since you hired someone to help you too!

Oh no! Technical blog issues can be such a pain. I’m sorry you lost so much. I paid someone to move my blog to self hosted and she set up and automatic daily backup, I’m so thankful.
