Hi friends! Sorry to go MIA on you on Friday but I’ve been really sick! I am actually a bit frustrated because in the last 6 weeks, I’ve been sick 4 times! I’ve had the stomach virus TWICE (there should be a law against that), I’ve been nauseated for about a week straight and then I also had a cold for several days. The last time I was sick was in 2013 so needless to say, I’m not a happy camper right now! I finally seem to be on the mend (hopefully for good) but if you have any ideas about why I continually might be getting sick, please let me know!
So even though I was feeling pretty blah, I still managed to do a few fun things this weekend. My brother and his wife stopped by for a visit, which is always a ton of fun but this time we took my Dad’s boat out for a spin. It has been awhile since I’ve been on the water and it was so so fun!
It was a beautiful day, I got to sit on a nice comfy beanbag chair and, oh yeah, the little man is too young for boats so he stayed home and I got over an hour of uninterrupted reading and lounging time. That is like a lifetime in mom years.
Side note- I’m reading At the Water’s Edge by Sara Gruen. She wrote Water for Elephants (excellent book, good movie). While this book also has water in the title, it is an entirely different premise. I am absolutely loving it. It took me a little while to get going but then I read over half of it in one day…so yes, I would recommend.
We did a little SUP, which was actually kind of difficult due to the wind from one direction but still fun. And then headed back for a nice relaxing alfresco lunch on the porch of salmon, pasta salad and grilled potatoes. No photo because I was enjoying life, baby.
I caught up on some more Mindy Project. This show is hilarious! Why has it been cancelled??? Aren’t TV studios aware that there are no other funny shows on right now? I need Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling in my life at all times.
Sunday I headed to my brother’s house for some beer making! More on that to come later but it was so fun!
He and his wife, Liz, made an amazing lunch for us with these locally grown beef burgers, caramelized onions and blue cheese.
Plus check out this salad Liz made:
Amazing!
So even though I was still recovering, it was an overall great weekend with lots of highs.
Although one major low is I think Cooper might be sick now . . . oy vey!
Readers, what did you get up to this weekend? Highs and lows?
Im sorry you’ve been so ill lately! That is no fun, especially when you’re back visiting and everyone wants to see you! I feel like I get sick most often when I’m stressed out or trying to do more than I should, like its my body’s way of saying I need to rest. I hope Coops doesn’t stay ill for long! Hugs!
Try a probiotic. Check out the jarrow brand usually at your health food store in the refrigerated section. Also may want to take some vitamin D 2000-5000 IU’s daily. Feel better!
Oh no, hope that you’re able to kick the sickness ASAP! That sucks. I don’t get sick often at all, but when I do I seem to have a hard time of kicking it. Have you taken echinacea for your cold? Always a good herbal remedy!
Even though you’re under the weather, your weekend activities sound nice & relaxing, and that fruit salad is so pretty!
So sorry you have been sick!! But no worries, HULU picked up The Mindy Project for 26 episodes!! I love that show so much. 🙂 Cooper is growing so fast!
