Hi there all my favorite people! How is your week going so far? Ours started off on a nice note because the weather has been great and I made homemade chicken tikka masala last night. That is the way to combat the Monday blues in my opinion! It was especially tough because it was back to work Monday after a nice week long vacation on the Cape. I gave you guys a little preview here, but I’ll fill ya in on what’s been happening since then!
Pete and I were so lucky to have my parents around to help out with the little man! We had the opportunity to go both stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking because my parents agreed to watch Coops (apparently he is too young to ride along!?!).
I have to tell you that not only are paddle sports a great workout, there is something so calming about them.
See Cooper agrees!
We had a bunch of fun bringing Cooper to his last swimming lesson of the season. I let his Dad take control of that one and he loved it so much. It was such a joy to watch them have so much fun together!
As luck would have it, we were able to snag a room at the Sheraton in Eastham for a night so we all trekked down there on what was supposed to be a beach day, but ended up being a torrential down pour day. No matter, Pete and I had dinner reservations, which I’ll tell you all about on Friday’s Food & Fitness. That definitely filled the void!
The next day the sun was shining so we headed out to the pool. I love love love the beach, but I have to admit that a pool is much easier with a baby, especially when said pool has umbrellas that provide shade.
We stopped for a gorgeous lunch at one of our favorite spots to eat on Cape Cod, Orleans Waterfront Inn. The food is good traditional Cape Cod food but the view is amazing! We had to wait for a table for a bit so I headed next door to check out this old windmill.
It was pretty amazing and also kind of random but I liked it.
The area is done up so pretty and the water is so picturesque.
We finally got seated right on the waterfront and I had to restrain myself from snapping 1,000 photos because it drives Pete a little bonkers (kind of like if he is on his phone while we are at a restaurant so I know how he feels!). I maintained a good amount and of course got a shot with this guy:
And the whole family!
I had the lobster tacos, which were basically tacos in a shell served with some salsa but they had me at lobster. Oh and a lovely berry sangria!
Of course no Cape Cod vacation is complete without a ton of beach time! Even with the little guy we managed to rack up a bit.
One of my favorite parts of the whole week was heading out for a bike ride with the Hubs. We love to cycle but it has been challenging to find the time since I got pregnant and we had Cooper. But we had a few hours on a beautiful day to go for a ride. We ended up riding to the beach and it was ahhhhmazing!
Oh yeah, and some tennis! I would like to say I won but…I didn’t. Lessons soon!
And some golf! It was the slowest game ever and I ended up getting bit by so many mozzies but I played really well so that made up for everything!
Readers, what is your favorite thing to do on vacation? How do you combat the Monday blues?

August 19, 2015Looks like such a nice time! Love the beach pictures! My favorite thing to do on vacation is to spend time at the beach. We’re lucky that so far, both of our boys are beach bums like us and are happy to spend the day there!
