Boca Raton, Florida

Hello hello!  Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday.  It’s been a crazy week!  Last Wednesday night we flew to Florida and then Sunday night we flew up to Cape Cod and we’ve been non-stop every time.  But we are finally settling in and I’m hoping to have Cooper back on his normal schedule soon (going to bed at 10pm, sleeping until 9am and then napping for three hours is NOT normal!).

We landed at 4:50am on Thursday in Miami and took a cab about an hour north to Boca Raton.  Although I’ve never been to Boca before, I had heard a lot of great things and as the sun rose we began seeing glimpses of huge, manicured mansions, palm trees and calm waters.

We pulled up to the Boca Raton Resort and Club to find a huge pink building adorned with water fountains and sculptures giving it a traditional Floridian feel.

I have to say it was one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed in with gorgeous fixtures and art and very well kept grounds.  One of my favorite parts of the resort was the fact that it was located right on the harbor so you could look out over the water and also gaze that the incredibly huge yachts parked right in front of the hotel!

Cooper was obsessed with the pool!  Finally all of those swimming lessons are paying off.  Ok, not really because he mostly just wants to side on the steps or the side of the pool and throw his flip flops in or pour water with a cup.  But at least he doesn’t hate the water!

They had this super cool surf simulator thing that I totally wanted to try out but we never got the chance!  It looked so fun but also totally embarrassing if you completely fell over in front of everyone.  I stuck to the much safer SUP excursion!

One of my favorites parts about this resort was the fact that you could visit their sister property, The Beach Club, and use all of the amenities there.  The first two days of our vacation the Hubs was in a conference so Coops and I headed down by ourselves initially and enjoyed the calm, clear Floridian waters and the hot hot sand!

Saturday, after Pete’s conference finished, we all headed back to the beach and despite having thunderstorms every day for at least the afternoon, we managed a perfect day.  It was hot, hot, hot and I felt bad that Cooper has to wear so many sunscreen clothes to keep the sun off him!

He LOVED the pool!  He literally didn’t want to get out to eat lunch!

The beach had endless activities including jet skis, kayaks, SUP, surfing, snorkeling, diving, boating, fishing and so much more.  I totally wished we could have stayed longer to take advantage of all the activities but in the end, it was kind of nice to just kick back and relax and relish in the fact that my child no longer eats sand.  It’s the small things people!

Readers, what did you get up to this past weekend?  Have you been to Boca Raton before?  Beach or pool?  We love both but the pool is a little bit easier for swimming with the toddler and the beach is easier for sitting/playing in the sand.

That hotel looks incredible!! And I can’t even imagine how hot it was there since it’s the end of June but, with so much water and so many activities, who cares? Cooper is getting SO big!!! His whole face is changing. He is still so adorable but wow. And you look fantastic mama. Obviously all that barre work is paying off 🙂 Loved all the photos and hope you’re now relaxing on the Cape…

The Boca Resort and Beach Club is lovely. I stayed there once and played golf. I think it was the best game that I ever had. Would love to return. It is a vacation for sure.
